But, I had the same situation with Blackjack 2. No data meant a lot less apps. It will work though on pre-paid data plans like AT&T offers where the BB doesn't.

With a voice plan, T-Mobile Total Internet is $19.99/mo. whilst BlackBerry Personal is $24.99/mo. with 400 SMS/MMS/IM messages included and BlackBerry Enterprise is $29.99/mo.

I hope that is the case now but they've only told me about the $39.99 Enterprise plan. When I worked for T-Mobile I also only had the $39.99 plan available to customers. And that was just last year.

Ummmm, I personally have had the $19.99 BIS add-on for about 2.5 yrs and it was around a long time before that. The $39.99 plan was a stand-alone BB plan with no voice.

The "current" $24.99 BIS plan which includes 400 msgs mentioned above is apparently gone now. TMO has just revised their internet offerings again and apparently the $24.99 BIS plan does not include the 400 msgs anymore.

I wish it were true. If you have a cheaper BB plan it must have been "grandfathered" over. For instance, when I was with them in 2002 and they had just changed to T-Mobile, people would come in with plans from the old company (Voicestream) That were pretty much unlimited minutes anytime, anywhere for low prices like $20-30.

Wait... I just found a link to a T-Mobile site that mentions Blackberry Unlimited Web for $24.99/mo. Includes unlimited web access only. $29.99/mo for unlimited web with Enterprise E-Mail. Says $34.99 gets you unlimited web and messages. It may be an old link though. Hope not....

In order to get the add-on prices, you will need to go through the site as though you were first selecting the voice plan, then it will show you the internet plans as well. If you only look at internet plans without a voice plan selected, then it shows you the stand-alone plans.

And of course, plans we already have are grandfathered. TMO does not force us to switch when they change the plans unless we switch to a voice plan that won't support the grandfathered add-ons.

I'm just surprised that you indicated that you worked at TMO as late as last year and weren't aware of the plan pricing which has been around for several years.

$24.99 is T-Mobiles rate for am Unlimited BIS plan, plain and simple. No Smoke, No Mirrors.

Another plus for Sprint; I just went to a few other carriers' sites to look at how much extra it costs for data/messaging/BIS since this heated discussion and holy wow does it cost a ton, and it's confusing as hell. Thank the Lord for an all in one plan. I can't really blame the guy for trying to find a workaround given carriers like ATT. No wonder my friends pay $120 a month for their iphones.

However, I don't have BIS and AppWorld still won't work. When I try from the desktop it complains that it needs Microsoft ActiveX, and when I try with MSIE the whole things just freezes. After much testing I conclude that AppWorld features the special RIM dependency on their proprietory battery pull interface and no other company implements that!

More significantly, RIM are locking customers to BIS using coercion. Locking customers in is an example of anti-trust and well suited to companies that fear they would lose customers under more open trading conditions. The really sucky part is that many of the applications on AppWorld do not require BIS (some work with TCP/APN) and yet they can only be installed with BIS. That's a really nasty (18 month) tax for what might be a single software install.
