Default T-Mobile sold out!

Please Login to Remove!

I've been trying to upgrade to an 8800 for the past week and and half and the 8800 is only available to new customers. Has anyone else had luck upgrading on T-Mobile?

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

No, same no-deal here. I've been a loyal 10 year customer who pays them over$2800 a year, and can't upgrade to the 8800. Any drug dealer or thug can walk in and get one with a new activation, but not a good loyal customer--go figure.

Default Sorry about that...

I get your frustration with not being allowed to upgrade to an 8800, especially considering your loyalty to T-Mobile. Sales has that policy in place with just about every new high dollar and high demand device that hits the shelves for a period of time, depending on a lot of factors. I'm not saying its right or wrong, but you're getting the correct info FOR THE MOMENT. Thats not my neighborhood, so I cant tell you WHEN it will be available, but it will be. Scouts honor

Its just some serious BS. I've been a total advocate of T-mobile for the past 4 years or so that I've had their service, but this is really aggravating. I know it won't affect them if I cancel my 2 lines but I'm seriously contemplating it. It really irks me that I've been waiting for the past 2 weeks (while its in stock for new customers) when I can just walk down the street to a Cingular store and walk out with an 8800.

Default TMobile is WRONG

I have been a TMobile customer for 5 years. 4 lines work and personal for both my husband and I and an air card. They would not upgrade me either. I cancelled my aircard yesterday and as soon as my personal cell contract is up, I will not be renewing. I can not beleive that they are more concerned with aquisition than retention when it comes to their customer base. I was a big TMobile fan but not anymore.

I lost my blackberry so I had to get a new one. T-mobile told me the same thing, sold out to upgrading customers.

Certain stores do have it in stock, but they refuse to tell me the price unless I go in. Go figure.

Also, do you guys think its such a good idea to buy this phone with the release of the 8300 imminent?

I would rather have the 8800 due to the gps capabilities, but honestly at this point I just need a new blackberry. At this rate, we'll be able to get our hands on an 8300 before the 8800 is released for upgrades.

Taypo--Thanks for your comments. I do understand the "why" of Tmobile offering the hot new devices to new activation only at first. That is the TMo policy and it's their marketing and it's their company, so they have a right to do what they wish.

However, on the same hand, that policy makes it very evident they do not value loyalty from their users. I also understand marketing, and it is a known fact it costs a company much less to retain current customers than it costs to attract the new customers.

I know they won't miss my account or even notice--until they want it back, lol.

Certain stores have it in stock? I was told that it would only be available through customer care and tmobile.com for quite a while. Granted it has been quite a while since the phone was released.

yes that's correct on the not being able to upgrade, but the upgrade price I've so far been quoted is too high for me. (I'm looking to swap out 200 units).

though with some of the rumors I'm hearing, I may hold off for a bit. just get some new units for the upper mgmt.

Frustrating. The woman I spoke to toldme that they have them in certain stores.

Then, she gave me the number to the store and I called and asked, and they to said they hd them in stock.

Go to the store, what do you know, "Corporate doesnt let us sell them in stores. We dont have them"

I called TMO and upgraded 2 8700s to 8800 for $349 each about two weeks ago. They were more than happy to upgrade me with a 2 year contract extension.

Call to cancel your contract and when they ask what they can do to keep you as a customer tell them upgrade your phone.

Have you checked Cingular's policy on how they rollout their phones? Do they do the same thing as T-Mobile?

The phone is avaliable for upgrade as of noon today. I just ordered mine thru tmobile.com upgrade option and then called tmo to confirm shipping date. Should have it by wed. at the latest. also a local store told me that it is highly unlikely the 8800 will make it to retail stores. something about a wing and 2 other upcoming devices they were not allowed to speak of.
