Hello,
I have a verizon blackberry 8330 and even though it does not have a sim card I'm sure there has to be some numbers out there that will unlock it in this modern day of technology.

It's not locked. Nobody but Verizon will activate it however. If you're talking about using it on a GSM network, you can't. It simply doesn't have the necessary hardware components to access GSM frequencies. It's like trying to get FM stations on an AM radio. It's just not built for it.

The 8830 has the GSM radio built in, as does the 9630. But the 8330 doesn't have the radio in it.

Phrases like that always seem to be a bad sign in discussion forums... That and the ever popular "For $XXX, it ought to...". Those statements always seem to indicate ignorance or some sort of arbitrary expectation that could be cleared up easily with a bit of research.

No amount of positive thinking will put a subsidy lock (only applicable to GSM devices) on your 8330. You might want to read up a bit more on GSM, CDMA, etc. This Wikipedia article on SIM locks may be of some benefit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subsidy_lock

Let's back up though and try a more useful approach: What exactly are you trying to do with your 8330 that makes you think you need to unlock it? Are you referring to some other type of lock? Keep in mind that on wireless device forums the word "lock" by itself is used to mean the subsidy lock.

I don't have verizon anymore but I have straight talk. There has been some talk of them letting people being able to use their blackberry's. Straight Talk runs off of verizon's towers. I would like to be able to use it for straight talk. That is all I want to do. Thanks for any help.

Please update your profile.

Doesn't appear that your carrier supports the BB, so you really need to make sure before you go and buy one.

You will need to see if StraightTalk will allow you to add the ESN to their network. They may need some additional information from the phone, which you can obtain by dialing ##000000. However, as Dubdub stated, they do not currently support BlackBerry devices. This means no BlackBerry data plan.
