Does anyone know how to get this light to have more function? I mean does anyone know how to get it to show status like green for signal...amber for low batt...stuff like that.

doesn't do that. Only the 71xx series does that. Sorry.

i believe the light on the 7290 is only capable of red. have never seen it display other colours.

The 8700 series is also capable of this (in addition to the 7100 mentioned above).

Does the 7290's red light blink continuously if you have a new message waiting (if you set it under the profile options)? Or does it blink for a few moments, then extinguish?

(When I had my 6280, I seem to remember some odd bug where it would keep on blinking even though I had read/cleared my message.)

the 7290 light flashes indefinitely when it is set in the profiles section.

Wow...that blows...it kinda sucks that there are new things (OS4.1) comming out for this device because it's older...there are like 4 themes created for it in the theme thread...but a million for 8700/7100 series...oh well....everything has its day...

os4.1 will comeout for the 7290 which will allow you to make your own themes. you can already make them with the theme builder but you just cant load them yet without 4.1
