Default 8820 wi fi connection woes

Please Login to Remove!

As a Blackberry newbie could someone advise me on connecting to my router wi fi without a data plan please. The 8820 can find the wi fi signal okay under manage connections/set up wi fi/scan for networks.
I have downloaded Opera mini and I think it is installed - it then spent 15 minutes checking for fonts !!

My 8820 is a refurbished model so if possible it would be nice to delete the Orange browser and the welcome BT logo when you click browser from the home page. How do you do this please....

Thanks very much
