Question Planning to travel to Indonesia and back to USA

Please Login to Remove!

Hello there,
I just purchased a T-Mobile BB bold 9700 in USA.
The phone is fully paid, and i am on a monthly plan that can be terminated anytime.

I f i get it unlocked, I know that I will then be able to use any GSM Sim card in Indonesia ( as they provide a very reasonable data plan package, even on daily basis ).

My questions are :
1. Should I unregister from T mobile ? , , or can I simply insert the New SIM card to enable me to keep on using the BBM and other Data related features?
2. If I have to unregister, would I need to re-register to T-Mobile to get the same function working again, once I move back to USA? I have no problem with the Indonesian counterpart, as all those reg and unreg steps can be done using sms.
If the answer are yes to those questions, how do I do that?

Many thanks.

You cannot register your 9700 to your Indonesian carrier and get data services like BBM until you de-register it from T-Mobile. Call T-Mobile and request that your PIN be de-registered from your account. Then when you cancel, your BlackBerry will be ready for a new carrier.

Once you get BIS set up in Indonesia you'll be back in business. But the rule is you can't get data services on a new carrier until the link with the old carrier is broken.

Thanks Rambo.

My next question is, when i de-register the PIN from T-mobile, would it automatically cancel my plan with T-mobile, or would it remain the same and has nothing to do with the de-registration?

Once i'm back in USA, would it be possible to re-register it again on a supposedly already unlocked BB? ( a thing that i would have to do at the first place to enable the usage of the Indonesian carrier GSM SIM card. )

I really like T-Mobile especially the UMA capability and hate to loose it.

De-registering your PIN will not cancel your plan.

Hi Guys. I have just booked a trip from Australia, using the "3" carrier and am planning to go to Bali, Indonesia. Internet access for me is essential hence my search for an Indonesian Sim with a Data Plan attached. If anybody could please recommend such a carrier, I'd appreciate it!
