Default Can't access Gmail, Hotmail on BB 8900

Hi all.

Model: BlackBerry 8900
Carrier: TIM Brasil - with data plan

The phone suddenly stopped connecting the MSN and stopped receiving emails (gmail, hotmail). I've tried to reinstall the firmeware to no success.

The problem is that the Gmail app, and Hotmail and others dont appear on the apps screen. I've searched everything. And the BB software says it is installed, it recognizes it. As well as others apps aren't installed anymore, such Facebook, and others. It seems that they are hidden in some place I can't reach. I did reinstall the OS and it's all the same.

Any input is appreciated.

Losing email or browser icon (and perhaps the others) is typically corrected with a resending of service books.

Make sure you are connecting to the RIM/BlackBerry network and the try resending service books.

Hi aiharkness, thanks for the response.

I've registered on network and received the message saying i'm registered.

I'm trying to connect to my providers BIS site but i get the message that I have to register the phone on network.

For some reason I can't create an account.

It is a phone of a friend. I just put my chip in it and configured gmail, hotmail, msn normally. I received messages and all. But yesterday it just stopped.

And strangely enough I can browse internet.

Some of what you are describing I don't have an answer for.... But, each BlackBerry is uniquely identified, and the handset must be registered on the BIS, and can only be registered on one BIS at a time. If you were getting email then you must have been prompted when you first accessed the network whether to switch messaging to that handset, and you said yes. At least that's the only thing that makes sense to me. The other option, which from your account of things you did not do, was log into BIS before hand and change the PIN there.

I know there is an explanation for the error you see on the BIS, but I don't know what it is. At any rate, if the device you are using is now associated with your BIS account, you should be able to resend service books from the email setup wizard on the handset, without having to do it from the BIS web portal using a computer.
