Okay... So I have a pearl, and it's for T-mobile but my girlfriend has cingular.atnt and I was wondering.... If I buy the unlock code online/ebay.. Do I buy..

Unlock Code for At&t Cingular Blackberry Pearl 8100

or

Unlock Code for T-Mobile Blackberry Pearl 8100

T-mo....but it shouldn't matter as they do it by PIN. You can check out Horizonwireless (they advertise here).

If you bought your Pearl from T-Mobile, they will supply you with the unlock code if you've been with them for 90 days. They simply need to confirm the IMEI and then they'll email you the unlock code within a couple days. Tell them you're planning a trip to Europe if they ask why you need the code.

I dont want to highjack your thread but this kind of fits.

I have been with t-mo for years and i dont think my pearl is unlocked is there any reason to get it unlocked even if i plan on staying with t-mo. Would i be free to be able to install other companies os or what?

You can install any other carriers OS. Just delete the vendor.xml file and load it up! If you are sticking with TMO then there is not benefit in unlocking other than potentially higher price if you wish to sell it in the future.

Do you know where i can download the other carriers OS, so I can unlock the phone by downloading the carriers phone so..

scenario:
My phone/the pearl = t-mobile, girlfriend has cingular, I download cingular xml replace it and it'll be a cingular phone?

If you've had t-mobile long enough, call them and tell them you're traveling out of the country and need your phone unlocked to use in another country. They might unlock it for you.

Uh, no.. Loading new code on the BlackBerry will not unlock it.
You have to get the code either from T-Mobile or from one of the commercial unlockers.

Why what? I already told you my scenario.

I sent my phone into wirelesstoyz a place here in town where they do unlocking, this guy said 24 hrs he had it for a week and my girlfriends pretty upset now, and we need some good input.

sadly... I haven't had any. unless calling t-mobile will be the only solution.

Calling Tmobile and/or using an unlock vendor are your best choices.
