Default Blackberry 8320 Help!!

Please Login to Remove!

Im hoping someone can answer some questions for me about my curve.
1) Is it possible to access aim on the curve without having the data plan?

2)Can the curve open up documents like word or excel? If so, then what software would i need to open them?

I can't answer about not having a data plan since I have one, but IIRC all blackberries can open office docs. I've been able to open word and excel on my curve, but I was able to do that stuff on my 7100i....

1) no you will need an appropriate Blackberry data plan in order to do this

2) yes it will open both of these documents, however you can not edit them.

if you would like to be able to edit them check out eoffice by Dynoplex I think it runs 99 dollars. Handango – The Official Site: Downloads For Your Mobile Device is one place it can be found

Please note that the BB can only open these documents as an email attachment. 3rd party software is required to open in any other manner.

It'll only open word and excel docs if they're attached to emails. No data plan = no email = no word and excel docs without add-on software.

*edit* John Clark beat me to it!

All IM services on the Curve use data now instead of SMS. You will need a data plan.

This is not accurate, i chat back and forth with friends on aim all day everyday via SMS. They come to me as sms messages with their aim name, and I respond back SMS. This is another reason i have unlimited SMS/MMS

That's because they send you a message to your phone number.

Their IM reads +15554321000, your phone reads "AimScreenName". That is SMS.

What he's asking is to use the IM client that will read like this:

Their IM reads "AimScreenName", your phone reads "AimScreenName". That is data plan.

This is true of the 8320 Curve. The original Curves, still use sms for the stock IM apps.
