First I would like to introduce myself and say hi to all. I've enjoyed reading all the posts and stickies.
From what I can interpret is Verizon 8330 will have the GPS turned off from within the software, but Sprint's GPS will work? if so why can't the O/S from a Sprint 8330 be copied to a Verizon 8330. Is it that the Verizon's network will not allow it?

welcome to the forums. Verizon disables the GPS via hardware and software. Using a different OS will NOT unlock the GPS functionality.

If Verizon treats their 8333 like they did their 8830, then no. GPS on a Verizon Blackberry will only work if you pay their $9.99 monthly charge for the VZ Navigator software.

Sprint's 8830 (and I believe their plan for the 8330) is provide the GPS available and working right out of the box and allow customers to choose whatever navigation software they'd like.
