Default Newbie - Swap 8700g to 8700c housing

Please Login to Remove!

Ok guys, so here's my situation. Hopefully someone who is passionate about Blackberrys and who knows more than me can provide some answers.

I got an 8700g back in Summer. I used it till a few days ago on the T-mobile network. It was locked. A few days ago I picked up the Pearl and that has left me with little to no need for the 8700g on T-mobile. I was going to throw it away, it is incredibly scratched and in horrible shape. I hate to call myself the owner of it. Anyways, well I was going to throw it away but I remembered I have a Cingular Razr Phone (Which I hate, I can't hear anything, and it never works) and Cingular account. So I called T-mobile, got the unlock code and now the 8700g is running on my Cingular account. I love it because I can hear for once.

Anyways, so my question is.

Is there any way to swap the housing from the 8700g to the 8700c? Are their internal parts compatible?

If so...does anyone know where I could get a 8700c housing kit?

I just don't wanna look like an idiot with a T-mobile phone running on Cingular, for some strange reason, some OCD in me doesn't like it.

Thanks!

Oh and if anyone is selling an 8700c housing or 8700g housing unit, please let me know as I would be interested in buying it (if it's in good condition of course)

There is a thread about this on the forum. The C will fit in a G case, but you need to change the keyboard. From what I remember, the keyboards are not easy to come by.

Do a search on the forum, and you will find a how to, and some links for parts.

I have a quick question, I'm planning to get the 8703e of Verizon since I'm switching carrier. Since I always like the form of the 8700c, is that possible that I put that housing on the 8703e? If it fits the 8700g, I don't see why not?

It's pretty pointless if you're really OCD because you won't be able to change the splash screen.
