First choose the carrier, then decide on the BlackBerry.
If you are sticking with T-Mobile, go to a store, and see what they have (8120, 8520, 9700).

New BlackBerrys will likely be coming out later this year, but I don't know of anything firm for T-Mobile.

Ditto. The best advice hasn't changed: Choose your carrier first.

Also, all blackberrys do basic blackberry functions. Then you have the different combinations of features such as wifi, GPS, camera, etc.

My advice is buy the most blackberry you can afford, unless you have some external prohibition such as regarding cameras.

If small form-factor is a primary requirement, then stick with a Pearl; I hear the 8130 with the latest OS is a winner.

I've just switched from old Pearl 8110 to Bold 9700, and while the Bold is not really big enough to be annoying, it sure is larger. You really need to handle one alongside your current model to see if that could be a problem.

The 8130 is a CDMA device, which does not work on GSM carriers. The OP is with T-Mobile currently, therefore an 8130 may be totally inappropriate.

I Strongly recommend changing carriers. T-Mobile does not have a robust data network like all the other carriers. Plus there are some very neat BBs on CDMA carriers like Sprint and Verizon. AT&T is a good company, but they are in about 3rd place behind VZW and Sprint for 3g coverage.

They asked about BlackBerrys, not about carriers.

They didnt specify staying with TMO either. This is a site where people look for support, not criticism.

While Sprint and Verizon may be good choices for you, AT&T may have better coverage for the OP, or even T-Mobile. Coverage varies greatly on your location. A blanket statement that one carrier is better than the other holds no merit. It all depends where the OP is and what works for him.

Also, maybe the OP likes GSM as they allow for simultaneous voice and date whereas CDMA does not.

And T-Mobile's UMA works very well where there is no carrier coverage.
Even Sprint doesn't cover everywhere.

It wasn't a criticism - it was an observation. Look at the title of the thread.

UMA runs over WIFI for voice calls only. Sprint and VZW offer Devices that can extend voice coverage where service is unavailable

I appreciate no hard feelings!

So that's how UMA work. That's good to know.
Wow.
