Question Wifi Question/Problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi -

I am a new owner. I purchased an unlocked 8320 that I am using with AT&T.

I am running into an issue with the browser. I have my browser settings so that it defaults to the mobile network data plan. However when I try to go to a website, many times I get the following message:

"This is a Wi-Fi service. Please ensure your device has an active Wi-Fi connection and try again."

When I turn on the Wifi, then I can easily access the web page.

Sounds like there is a setting that's not set up properly, but I can't figure it out.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi! Welcome to BB Forums.
What version of the OS are you running on the 8320?
Options / About will show the version.

Thanks!

Start up the Browser then press the Menu key and go to Options. Scroll to and select General Properties. Change the Default Browser to Internet Browser.

Then you're set to surf over the GSM network. If you want to surf over Wi-Fi change the Default Browser back to Wi-Fi Browser.

Also, you can decide on the fly which browser to use depending on your connection status when using GOTO to type in a URL.

When you are on the GOTO screen in the browser, just click the menu key and click CHANGE BROWSER.

With the latest software, it should automatically use the wifi browser if it sees a wifi connection. However, if wifi browser is set to default, it won't automatically use EDGE if there's no wifi.
