After my earlier post today, quite a few of you expressed a certain amount of skepticism.
I live in the Los Angeles market, my Verizon account is discounted (government employee), and my price for the device was approx $150, before the $50 mail-in rebate (not counting tax). I also had to renew my contract for another two years.
The rep couldn't find the Curve in her system right away, but put me on hold for a few minutes, then came back and said that it was "certainly doable". I gave her the sku # I found at

The device is being shipped Fedex two-day delivery, and I was told to expect it Monday.
Who knows how the mysterious wheels of luck spin at Verizon Wireless when it comes to this kind of stuff. I do know from experience that if one doesn't succeed at first with a customer service rep, then call back and try again with another rep.
