Field Test/Engineering Mode Software for 8100?

I used to be a big Nokia owner and had handsets in the past which you could access a special Field Test or Engineering mode which would show available networks and other specifics of the tower you were camping on etc. I don't know a whole lot about this stuff, but it was pretty cool.
Are there apps out there that can show this type of information on the Pearl?

There is an engineering mode, but you need an user and password to enter a RIM web page to get a code to unlock it. You need to be a tecnician in a carrier to get access to an account.

I forget to say that you can access basic network info from jde api, like cell id, rac, lac, rxlev and bsic.

...was that an offer to code up a basic j2me-bb applet for us that shows everything available in the API (for cell connections, etc.)? 
I miss the Nokia Field Test/Moto Engineering menus as well, sure do wish I knew someone that could get me a magic code like you mentioned. I think the S60 variant was the best, it allowed me to lock onto a frequency that was better than the defaults in troubled coverage areas... |

I can post a VERY simple program to see this values. But without support and only for OS4.2. Just be patient.Dont have much time this week.

Hey, that sounds great -- those 4.1 and below people need to upgrade anyways. Ping me if you want any testing or feedback before releasing, be happy to help (like with any wifi/uma API calls to test on my 8320). |

its just a log where you can see the cell that served the zone, the RxLev you get when you go in and the RxLev when you leave...
If you have a BB simulator, you can see the engineering mode pressing Alt+E,S,C,R

The channel (ch) is the frequency... the API has nothing about neighbours....

Would you be willing to share your source project files for this?
I would love to be able to output this info over the serial port with a few other things instead of probing the phone with AT+ commands. Especailly since AT+CREG doesn't seem to work properly on my 8100.

Thanks for the app. Do you have a description of each of the fields? I'm pretty familiar with reading CDMA data, but everything is unfamiliar except for RSSI to me.

lhurtado, thanks for developing this small application. My company runs a service called Roaming Drive Test and we are trying to include BB testing. I've been looking for a way to get detailed Field Test data out of the BB. Any chance of having you develop a little additional funtionality and GUI? Mini-fieldtest
Hello everybody and thanks to lhurtado for the mini-fieldtest. now I am using it on a BB bold and it works pretty well only some problem with size of letter but not big deal.
I need to know is there is a full fieldtest for BB such as nokia or motorola!

I just finished installing an app called signal location utilities for blackberry. Great. Im a cell site tech and this app works great for me. http...f5bbutils.fairview5.com/signalloc/
RIM has its own software but it comes in test phones. The software images are carefully guarded so its difficult to get them. You might want to press alt, shift, H simultaniusly. On normal handsets you will get the help menu but if you have the special version it will display a menu "Engineering Screen Contents".
