I have had a BB for several years now and always used BIS. My company is small and has recently outsourced the email to a 3rd party. They use Exchange 2007. I have the opportunity to switch to BES with the 3rd party company. The 3rd party company offers BES as part of our company email package.
My current BIS setup works fine for the most part, but am thinking BES syncing would be better.

I talked to our IT folks about any IT policies that may be in place if I switched to BES and since they do not host our email, they tell me there would be none.
I plan on calling the 3rd party company about this, but wanted to get some input on making sure I ask the right questions.
I can see the advantages of have full sync capability on the BB, but do not want to cripple it either since it is my personal BB, even though I use if for work.
Since I have never used BES, I am also concerned that it just might not be my cup of tea and may want to go back to BIS if this is the case. Can this be done easily. I am not real keen on having to force the IT policy off by using the methods described herein on this forum.

The clincher in favor of BES for me is wireless sync of my calendar with my BB and the MACs I have on my desks at home /work. The other major advantage is that I don't have to deal with the geniuses at ATT tech support for BIS/billing issues.

I pay the $20/month from my own pocket. More that worth it.

I think you are taking the right steps if no IT policy will be in place I would go for BES! If you need to switch back to BIS not to tuff to do son

I'm from Pakistan and using BIS service from Mobilink network here. From the last one month, we all in Pakistan, are unable to send email attachments from our BB handsets running BIS.
We all contacted Mobilink (an Orascom Company) and they replied that RIM is working on it to solve the issue. Mobilink says that RIM is not sure when this issue will be resolved, it may take another 2 to 3 monts.
Please someone tell RIM to solve this issue.

Hi wcberry,

I think you will like BES. It's wireless syncing of PIM stuff should be a big benefit. You'll also get instant e-mail delivery (rather than 15-minute polling on BIS) and the ability to file messages in folders etc.

I'm stuck on BIS, but would jump at the chance to go to BES.

I think, though, you're right to fully check into the IT Policy restrictions before you move.
