I'm thinking about switching to AT&T - I've really had enough with Verizon nickle and dime'ing me, and blocking features. Not to mention I have a dropped call problem they haven't solved after 5 calls to tech support.

Anyways, Verizon aside, what does anyone with an AT&T 8820 think of it? Any limitations I should know about (besides the obvious no camera, etc)? Other opinions? Thanks

I didnt wait and got the 8800 from T-mobile, im absolutly in love with it already.

If you're switching from an 8830 to an 8820... the only thing you'll lose is EVDO speeds.
EGDE is slower than EVDO.

However, you'll gain WiFi and unlocked GPS, which are BIG advantages over the Verizon 8830.

Also, with the AT&T 8820, you'll likely get OS 4.5 before you would on your Verizon 8830.

That's my big deal. I held my friend's Tmobile Curve next to my 8830 and noticed little difference on a lot of sites and on Google maps. Probably because of latency time. Once my phone gets going, it's speedy. Still, I don't think the Berry is fast enough to keep up sometimes.

I'd wait for the Bold, but I've been hearing enough mixed things about it (build quality, battery life, not a 'real' Berry, etc), and that it won't be out until August/September. Not saying it's bad, just not sure I want to wait, personally. And right now I have an easy shot to get out of Verizon for free, given my lengthy list of problems I've had over the past year.

Any more thoughts?

I was in your shoes not that long ago. I decided to drop Verizon and go with AT&T and the 8820.
The only thing I was worried about was the coverage, as I never had a problem with Verizon...But ATT has been just as good (for me), I am so glad I switched....AT&T will never cripple their phones as does Verizon

I would definitely wait for the Bold to come out if you do switch... but I think that's already a given...

I switched from a 8310 to a 8820 about a week ago just to see what it was like with the WiFi and since I wasn't using the camera much at all and so far I like the 8820 and find myself surfing using the WiFi at home more often then I was with the curve which makes my wife happy because she can use the laptop more often now.

The 8820 has been good to me as well as the 8800, 8300, and the 8310. I might be switching back to the 8310 over the weekend, depending what mood I'm in.
