So the 8100 hasn't arrived for Cingular yet.. Does that mean TMO will get 8800 first? Assuming Cingular releases 8100 in early 07.

Cingular will most likely get the 8800 first, because of TMO getting the 8100 first. They have to play fair ;)

Play fair? It's whoever pays RIM to get the exclusive.

Default Quick Question

I keep hearing that the 8800 and the 8100 has voice dialing. Can the 8700 use this with an update?

Like NJ says there is no being nice and playing fair. The carriers PAY RIM for the privilage to get a new device first with an exclusive. T-MO must be passing a lot of $$$ to RIM but they have crap for service in Jackosnville.

T-Mobile will NOT be getting this device first. Expect Vodafone and Cingular on the starting gates, and I would say Rogers as well (as always).

There is no definite time frame, but a best guesstimate would put this out in Dec/Jan for the first run and Mar/Apr for the second wave (T-Mobile, etc). There is no factual basis for this information, though (and very few people would have factual information, and none have come forward just yet, to my knowledge).

At this time, the 8800 will not feature voice commands or voice-activated dialing. The same goes for the 8700 (this is based on first-person factual knowledge, for now). This feature will only be present in the 8100 (at the time of this post). Whether or not this can be added in the future with a software upgrade is still unknown.

Have fun with it! I've read the technical spez.. It'll be a cool device!
Together with BES 5.0 it'll be an fantastic combination. Forget Windows mobile, repligo, GPS-Pucks, Extra Navigation Software etc.. I think, 2007 becomes a fantastic BlackBerry-Year.

Greets from Europe

Well there are two things, one being he might have been talking about T-Mobile UK (Europe), and second, I have heard T-Mobile USA will be getting a full QWERTY BlackBerry WITH camera around April '07. Jibi is not wrong, no one is. Cingular released the 8700 last November, more than likely they will launch the 8800 first, they choose full QWERTY while T-Mobile has had pretty much every 7100-style exclusive. I'd say Dec/Jan on Cingular.

This is out of topic, but i'm just wondering, if youve seen Jackass2 and was it better than the first one?

I doubt T-Mobile gets it first, look at the history of these things. T-Mobile usually gets exclusive on the consumer based models they got it for the 7100 and the Pearl, the only exception is the 7130 which they probably won't carry. It makes sense because T-Mobile does not have a heavy business market like Cingular. So why pay the money to get the exclusive on two devices. We all know T-Mobile never releases 2 new blackberry models withing 3-4 months of each other. In addition, T-Mobile just got the 8700 in March/April (I forget), do you really think (from a marketing standpoint) they will put out something else 8-9 months later. They just don't.

On the otherside Cingular usually gets the exclusive for the qwerty "business" models i.e. the 8700, 7290, 7280 (ATT), 7210 (ATT). They probably new about the Pearl and the 8800 back in the summer and just put all their pennies in the 8800. Plus it will be a year plus since the release of the 8700. New year new phone. Think about it. Just my .02

Oh and I hate these things too.

I'm due for an upgrade in nov...when i got my 8700 last year....i was going to go the 8100 route (assuming Cingular would have it by then...don't think they will, 1Q, 2007), now I think I'll just wait for the 8800....don't want a camera anyway...can't have them at my job....

So the 8100 is coming to cingular first right? So obviously they (Cingular) wouldn't release 2 new BB at same time in order to maximize on profits so I'm guessing its going to be in 07 sometime before 8800 is out. Think I will stick with my new 8700
