Default Screen Protector

Please Login to Remove!

I am looking to get a screen protector for my 8830. I have seen them in many online shops, but the cost to ship them is higher or equal to the cost of the product. Does anyone know of a reliable online store that offers free shipping?

I don't have a problem with shipping, but when you can throw the item into an envelope I don't see how they can charge between $5.00 and $9.99 for shipping.

Thanks,
Kim

It takes some real patience but I installed the Invisible shield screen protector and well its pretty darn invisible and works great. I ordered the full kit to cover the rest of my 8820 (I ordered the wrong kit the first time).

I got a lifetime supply of sheet from BestBuy for about $15. Comes with a grid pattern on the peel off back, real easy to cut square.

I tried Best Buy, they were all out. They only had them for the Treo.

Thank you! I just ordered from there. I got the iPod touch skin too. It was cheaper than anywhere else too. And, shipping to NY was only $1.00

Default Shield Protector

I have purchased mine from invisibleSHIELD | iPod Cases, Screen Protectors, Covers, Shields, Skins, Invisible Shield.

I have had this shield since I have owned my BB. It is awesome and I recommended it. It covers the whole device or you can get it as a screen protector.

How hard is it to get these that cover the screen and/or the whole BB to go on without bubbles and to get it lined up?

I just put the InvisibleSkin on my 8830 today; I got the skin to cover the entire phone because I'm getting tired of using a case to protect it.

It didn't take as long as I thought it would to install the skin, although I didn't notice what time I started. I was able to get it all lined up fairly well, you can move it around while it's still wet or you can peel it off and start again. It gets "tacky" fairly quickly, but it's easy to reapply it with the spray solution they include with the skin (which is basically water).

I have to admit that lining it all up was a bit of a challenge, but it got easier as I went along. My 8830 is silver and the skin is clear, so I couldn't always see exactly where the skin was going when I placed it on the phone---I was doing a lot of squinting (I wear reading glasses, which added to my difficulty seeing the skin).

The bubbles weren't too much of a problem, I was able to get most of them out with the squeegee thing they include with the kit. If a bubble was too large, I just lifted up the skin and reapplied it.

You can't turn on your BB for 24 hours after installing the skin so it can "set" properly. It's been about 8 hours since I installed the skin and it already looks better than it did right after the installation. According to the directions, any "microbubbles" should work themselves out after a couple of days.

Overall, as of now I'm happy with the skin, but I really haven't given it a work-out yet. It doesn't add bulk to the BB, but it feels like it's substantial and will protect the BB well. Applying the skin to the entire BB or just to the screen is very doable, you just need a little patience.

I didn't apply the skin to the upper back of the BB because I attached a Krussel multidapt clip-holder there. I want to be able to use the Krussel clip as needed, particularly in my car (I have the Krussel windshield phone holder and I love it).

I don't see the 8820 included on the list for total body skins -- but the 8800 is pretty much the same thing right? I just dont want to purchase it and not have it work with my 8820.

I only installed the clear skin on the screen of my 8830, but it was very easy. No bubbles at all. And a big plus is that it helps cut down on glare as well. I had the rubber protector on my BB so I only got the screen cover. But, since then I have changed over to a vertical leather pouch to hold my BB. So, now I think I have to order the skin for the entire BB.

It's just a thin film that goes on smoothly and doesn't add anything to the weight or thickness. It does help with the smooth slippery feel of holding onto the BB. Now that I got rid of the rubber skin, I need to add this invisible skin so I don't drop it!

BestSkinsEver.com has the same material screen protectors that Invisible Shield does at a fraction of the price. I put full body skins from here on all my devices.

I have tried both the Invisible Shield and BSE skins and they are exacly the same.

I am pretty rough with my devices. I have put iPods with the BSE skin on in my pocket/backpack with keys and pens, and the device comes out unscathed. A have also accidently dropped my phone a few times with no scratch. Further, I have accidentally dragged the device across the a rough jagged floor (don't ask) which ultimately ruined the skin, but when I took it off to replace it, the device/screen was pristine.

The only thing I noticed is that if you've had the skin on for a while (+6 months), when you remove it, it leaves a sticky adhesive on the device (even though the site says it won't). But with a quick google search, I found out that it comes off real easy with Windex; i.e. just get it wet and the adhesive comes off with a few swipes.

I always recommend getting either the BSE or the Invisible Shield as it's amazing stuff.

Do these skins cover the entire device or just the big flat parts? (I know the keyboard isn't affected). What I'm looking for is something to help keep dust from getting inside and under the screen. I swapped the silver housing for black, and while the look is OEM, I feel like it's just not quite as tight as the original housing. Small dust gets under the screen now...

I got my skin from BestSkinsEver.com. It was here in just days and it's great.

They were also the least expensive for shipping.
