I thought that the 7100 series phones, from my one week of working at tmobile were Phones that had the PDA functions. And the others, 7290 were PDAs that had phone capabilities. Get it? directed at different users. Well he said that he wouldn't recommend the 8700 for business people. more of a phone and texting, email etc. Do you agree?

But on the other hand, what else would the business user want other than Email, corporate email (which u can do on the 7100 series), phone, texting, IM.??
I wouldn't say that one is necessarily better than the other across the board. People have different needs and there's no single solution that meets everyone's needs. For example, real estate agents need IR for their Supra keys. The Blackberry doesn't have IR. The Treo does.

For me, I find the stability of the Blackberry to be its greatest strength. There are no whistles and bells for the geeks and people who want a toy. It does what it does really well.

As for the phone-orientation of the 7100 series versus other models it's more of a gimmick to me. You're mostly getting a narrower form factor and SureType. If that's more "phone-oriented" and better suited to one's needs then great. I don't care for it myself.

You would be surprised at what business users want and need. I don't see why the 8700 wouldn't be suitable for business users. We certainly deploy them to our employees.

Depends on the data plan you're subscribing to. Not all data plans include SMS.

Thank You.

So for me, not working, but in love with the BB, I wanted the newer one. I heard great things about the 8700. It combines the best of the 7290 with that of the 7105t. Basically it gets better and faster. Would one like it still not being in the corporate world

I see that you said it does not have suretype tho. I remembered the phrase but looked it up. It is basically one of the 3 types of typing methods (2 of which are the same) itap, t9, or predictive, combined with the keyboard that combines the keyboard with the numbers.

So what does the 8700 have, t9 itap predictive? So it does not have that library of words?

It doesn't really have anything since it has a full qwerty keyboard. Though something like the predictive text app that Treo users mention could still be useful...
