hi, i'm new to the forums and new to blackberrys. my name is jeremy and i live in the kansas city area. i have a used blackberry with cingular. since it's used, i have no idea what may have been changed and/or messed up by previous owner. didn't realize these phones had soooo much and would be complicated at first. oh yeah, mine is the 7100g.

i just finanly figured out how to get my sim card phonebook onto the phone itself, but i am having trouble with everything else. i have the software cd and have installed it on the computer already. i am getting a "data connection refused" on the top of the screen. i want to be able to get online, preferably through wireless router connections such as my linksys router i use for my home computers. but i will be okay to use cingulars service. don't know how to do this or what to do with the enterprise activation.

i don't know what all stuff i should download to install and all that. i did look over a lot of different threads and links to other stuff. did a lot of reading, but don't know what i am doing. if there is someone in the KC area that knows what they are doing and would be willing to give me a hand that would be awesome.

lots of other questions but i will just start with that stuff...

thanx

jeremy

Hi. Welcome to BB Forums. If you didn't already read them, then I can you read the Sticky Thread FAQs. Loads of information on the BB.

A few things: The 7100g does not have WiFi. So forget that. You need to call Cingular and get the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account. Probably around $45/month. No data plan, no data. Only voice and SMS.

That should take care of the Data Connection Refuse.

Then read up on the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) and determine how you are going to get e-mail to your BB.

That should get you started. Good luck!
