Hi ...I've looked everywhere and now I'm desperate...

When you open the firewall port 3103 for a new BES server install, do you ask for it to be opened for both TCP and UDP or just TCP?

Under the "Receiving an email message on the BlackBerry device" (p.16), it says that the BES maintains "a constant, direct outbound TCP/IP connection" on port 3101. But in "Sending an email message from the BlackBerry device" on the following page, it says "The connection from the Blackberry Enterprise Server to the BlackBerry Infrastructure is a two-way TCP connection on port 3101."

"netstat -a" will show the connection, and it's always TCP.

TCP, all day long, and just to clarify paridesai, it's port 3101 not 3103 (although I suspect this was just a typing error)!!

3101 TCP Outbound there is no need to open Send, Send/Recieve, Recieve, or Recieve/Send on your firewall.
