Default Blackberry in Moscow

I have an unlimited international data plan with Cingular on an 8700. Does anyone have a similar set up and been to Moscow? I am traveling the end of June and wanted to know if you ran into any issues using your BB?

We've had reasonably good luck with BlackBerrys in Moscow from several different carriers. Outside of Moscow it is a bit hit or miss.

I frequently travel to Moscow. Although MTS (Tmobile) and RIM have an agreement to provide BB service in Russia, Beeline is the current carrier. Have never had a problem, even in the Metro. A word of warning, roaming charges are VERY expensive, i.e. voice$4.95 per minute; data charges are also expensive. Would suggest using SMS or getting a prepaid card SIM.

I was told by Cingular that since I am on an unlimited international data plan I will not have data roaming fee's....only voice roaming fee's if I use the phone portion of my BB. I am only planning on using the data while I am there to get my e-mail. Is this not correct?

It is my understanding the roaming charges originate from and are imposed by the foreign carrier, in this case Beeline (Vodafone). As I use Tmobile, I am not familar with the Cingular system but to avoid a BIG surprise, ask in advance.

To find if blackberry can run on SIM card from local wireless carrier, ask if they offer SIM cards with blackberry data plan.

Your blackberry must be unlocked, too.
