A small quibble but a computer does actually need to be on. It just isn't one that you need to maintain. So you really do need a BES, you just have someone else maintaining it for you.

My organization does not, to the best of my knowledge, have a BES. Agreed that a computer hosting the Domino server needs to be on but that's true no matter what. If that goes down there's no e-mail, period. I was referring (as I'm sure you knew) to the fact that the recipient (BB User) doesn't need to keep a computer running solely to redirect e-mails from your Inbox to BIS.

I wasn't sure. I really don't know anybody who has one....thought there could be some ex-blackberry users who hated them who might give me the bad side.

For the record, I've decided to wait for the 8700. If it comes out end of March or beginning of April like I saw in another thread, I should be able to "just" make it (time-wise that is).

Could someone confirm the info regarding IM messages. I have the 19.95 blackberry unlimited email and browser add on but it does not include text messaging. I have to pay for them individually or add another 9.95 per month.

IM is data and is included in your plan.

The 8700 is out here in Canada and it's fantastic.. the wait is worth it provided you can afford to pay for a device.

A lot of people say that. I'd say YMMV. I've never had a problem holding the 7290 as a phone and my hands aren't large by any means. If there is a problem, it's a mental aversion unless you have really really tiny hands.

That said, my main Blackberry is currently an 8700c and I'm happy it's a bit slimmer than than the 7290.

Personally, a full QWERTY keyboard trumps device size in this sort of situation. As I said though, it's all personal preference.

Do you have T-Mobile? Are you talking about the plan I linked in original post?

That's the plan I was hoping to get and "expecting" unlimited text messaging and Yahoo messaging with. Can anybody verify?

Wait till this summer for the 7130.

I'll never leave Blackberry. LOL I even have a Blackberry skullcap! It's one of my guilty pleasures.
