Default 1000 name limitation

I am wanting to switch from the Iphone to the Storm but cant due to the fact that the Storm only holds 1000 addresses. Is there any way around this? Can I add memory?

Do you really need all 1000 addresses? Even several hundred seem excessive?

I have 874 contacts in my Curve. I sure hope I don't have the same limitation on my device as the Storm...

Wirelessly posted (BB 8330)

Where did You hear that it only holds 1000 contacts. It should have shared memory like every other BB with no real limitation.

In my agency we got quite a few users who have over 1000 contacts... (Not comment), is that a Storm limitation or just a BlackBerry limitation in general?

Don't believe everything you hear. That is not true.

I take it you have tried it yet, only "heard"?

Maybe for you, but in my situation, I have about 100 customers, many of them with 50+ sales or marketing contacts. Lots of bb users can hit 1000 contacts pretty quickly.

Part of why I have so many is that I too oftentimes have many contacts within an organizations that can be in multiple locations. Also, when traveling, it is a great timesaver to add restaurants and entertainment venues for future trips. 1000 names isn't squat. Several hundred might be the case for a personal usage. If this is a phone for businesses there IMHO should not be such a small limitation.

There is no limitation. Did you read my post above?

The 'why' you and I need and have more than 1,000 contacts is not the discussion. You need to tell your rep they need to go back to training class.

To repeat - there is NOT a 1,000 contact limit. The Verizon rep simply made it up.

You gotta take everything reps with a grain of salt, they will say almost anything to sell the phone.. Plus they aren't as versed in BlackBerry as many members of this forum!

I only keep the numbers I "must" have which leaves me with 54.

I have one exec with over 6K - he uses Card Scan and merges his entire database with Outlook....

When you backup the device you normally can do a full backup with a normal user in about 2 minutes - His takes like 6 minutes... (ack )
