Default What APN to use for internet without BIS?

Please Login to Remove!

I want to use apps that require BES/BIS (facebook, etc) on my BB Curve 8520, using purly wifi, since I don't have any voice/data service plan.

I read that I can run all those apps by changing my APN in my TCPIP settings.

What would I change my APN to if I'm connected to my wifi network (Comcast)?

You CAN'T.

The only advice anyone can give to access "apps that require BES/BIS" is to tell you to get either a BIS or BES data plan through your provider. Once you have the required data plan, you can then also use wifi to access the apps but no BB data plan, no service books, no access.

And AT&T periodically scans IMEIs on their network and if they find a device that requires a data plan, it will automatically be added, whether you want it or not.

Plus, the only way to get the WiFI service book on AT&T is to have a BB data plan.

So, no BB dataplan, no RIM services and no WiFi. No way around it.

There are cell phones, smartphones, and BlackBerrys. BlackBerrys don't work like normal cell/smart phones. They connect to the RIM infrastructure for almost all data services, with all carriers. That's why you need a BlackBerry data plan.

What a shock. The exact same advice he was given almost a month ago.
