Default Upgrading from a Pearl to a Curve?

Please Login to Remove!

First, I'm a Sprint user and I'm about to have the ability to upgrade my phone for a minimal fee and was wondering if there was any real reason to go from a Pearl to a Curve. I have no issues with the Pearl at the moment. It works just fine. I would like a bigger screen but I don't want to lose my camera, flash or video capabilities. Oddly, I love the smarttype on Pearl. With a bigger keyboard smarttype probably isn't a feature, so I might miss that. At any rate....Knowing these facts, will the Sprint's 8330 do what my pearl does, but have a bigger screen and keyboard?

8330 has slightly more memory than 8130. . . . and as stated bigger screen and full QWERTY keyboard. . . 8330 has same camera resolution as the Pearl, with 2.0-MP Camera. You will not miss the built-in GPS Capabilities, Video Recording & Mobile Streaming from Pearl either. . . so basically, you're upgrading to a bigger screen, qwerty and 32mb more memory.

Are you saying that the 8330 has those features and that is why I won't miss them? Or are you saying I won't need them anymore because the 8330 has other features that make up for it? I will miss GPS and video recording if it doesn't have them. I use them all the time.

You're not missing out on anything by upgrading. I use all of those features on my 8330.

If you have the same GPS/video features on the 8330 as the 8130 then it's the screen size and the typing that's the difference. I typed faster with my 8100 than I do with my 8900, but not by much. My wife says her 8320 is the same as her 8100 typing. The screen isn't that big of a deal. I say don't switch if you like the pearl. It's a great phone.

I appreciate the replies. Thanks.

For some reason some of the apps I wanted for my Pearl, aren't made for it. For instance, there was a video converter program that wasn't available for the pearl, but was available for other BB.

Are there apps that would work for a Curve that don't work on a Pearl? Are there more apps for a curve vs the pearl? Or am I mistaken and any app that works for a Curve should also work on a Pearl?

No, not all apps work for all models. There are operating system differences, and the devices have different screen sizes and resolutions.
