Hi Folks,
Need your help
I m unable to add user using BESUserAdminClient in a domino environment.
I can add a user using the Blackberry Manager console (A user created in Domino Admin) but when executing the command I get "error code -21: User doesnt exists".After a few attempts the BESUserAdminService and lotus domino server stops. Here are the logs that i get it in **_BBUA_*.txt file.

It looks like the User Admin Service could not get address info for "Sadiq Syed". Can you see this user in your directory with the id of the user the User Admin Service is using?

I unfortunately don't know enough about the Domino directory to speak authoritatively ...

The logs does hint so .. but i m still able to add the user (Syed Sadiq) from BLackberry manager console.
The error i guess is some where here :

NotesSession::RestoreParamsToNotesIni: Restoring ServerKeyFilename to notes.ini
[10000] (06/16 11:41:25.813):{0x1EAC} NotesSession::InitIDFile: SECKFMSwitchToIDFile() failed, error = 6402

Can some one throw light on the what this error means ?
Google didnt help much !!

Sorry, just to clarify, are you only getting errors via the BESUserAdminClient?

Or do you get errors also when using BB Manager?

Default Installing BESUserAdminService

While installing BESUserAdminService, it asks for path to notes.ini file.
Why do we need to specify the path here ?
Do we need to specify the path to lotus\domino\notes.ini or
lotus\notes\notes.ini
[The entire infrastructure is one the same machine. We are only doing a prototyping hence we installed lotus domino server, lotus notes, lotus administrator and BES Server all on one machine.]

Even if i specify a wrong path, BESUserAdminClient works fine except for add user operation.

Do notes.ini have any significance in this context ? Does it do the job of what MAPI Profile does in case of exchange ?
Does add user command has anything to do with notes.ini file ?

I Feel the problem is with notes.ini as the logs spits something related to that

[30000] (06/18 16:30:31.531):{0x938} NotesSession::RestoreParamsToNotesIni: Restoring KeyFilename to notes.ini
[30000] (06/18 16:30:31.531):{0x938} NotesSession::RestoreParamsToNotesIni: Restoring ServerKeyFilename to notes.ini
[10000] (06/18 16:30:31.531):{0x938} NotesSession::InitIDFile: SECKFMSwitchToIDFile() failed, error = 6402

[40000] (06/18 16:30:31.531):{0x938} InitSubmitMessage: bRet = :0:

Any lead would be very useful !!

Erm, well this is certainly an interesting config. And HIGHLY un-recommended! Wow, any other Domino Admins wanna jump in on this one?

Default Hmm..Environment issues

I have installed MSExchange - BES Combintaion before and it didnt give problems. Actual putting all in the same machine, avoids lots of issues related to file permission,etc.
Guess i wud end up doing as recommended in BES docs

OK, righteo. I have no idea what a MAPI Profile in exchange does, so I cannot help you there.

Here is a "simplified" guide to notes and domino:
The underlying architecture is largely the same, in that there are two really fundamental components:
a) names.nsf
b) notes.ini
Both of those files hold important configuration information for the domino or notes installation - those filenames are the same for the server (domino) or client (notes).

Each installation of notes/domino requires it's own notes.ini. I have no idea which paths you have used to install domino/notes/admin/designer, hopefully you have some clear separation.

There are several points to note here:
a) It is not recommended to install BES on your primary domino server. Setup a separate domino server for BES.
b) It is not recommended to install the notes client on a box running the domino server

I'd have to look into the BESUserAdminService to answer more fully, but FYI you listed 2 paths:

lotus\domino\notes.ini ---> This path implies it is the domino server's file
lotus\notes\notes.ini ---> This path implies it is the notes client's file

Are you running the BlackBerry User Admin tool on the same server as BES?

Well, crikey. The first line of the "Requirements" section of the BBUserAdmin Tool Guide is:

Do not run the BlackBerry User Administration tool on the same computer on which the BlackBerry Enterprise Server runs.

It makes it hard to rule out odd system behaviour when your config, quite honestly, goes against every bit of best practise that exists for Domino BES!

Last piece of advice I will point you to:

Read the "Requirements and considerations" on the BlackBerry User Admin Tool Guide.
