I have a well informed confirmation from our B2B Verizon Rep. that they will be selling the 8703 to clients on/by 09/18/2006.

I am waiting for a call back with regards to purchasing this device ASAP.

Looks like blackberry is getting smart... the cost is INSANE tho... $45/month but understandable because cingular prolly needs to pay license fees.... but I'm 99% sure this will ONLY work if you have a BES server (with exchange/domino/groupwise)... its not like where verizon has the hosted website solution https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong...
Sorry to step off with this side note....I believe you can use BBC's on the BIS site...I know the Nokia 9300 can.

***EDIT***
I'm wrong on the BIS accounts....from the Palm website about the Blackberry Connect for the 650...
"Certain BlackBerry Connect features not supported, including BlackBerry Internet Servicexxx8482;."
***/EDIT***

But, the point of my post is just a slight oversight....you cannot use a Blackberry Connect device on a GroupWise BES. There is no wireless activation for a BBC, and there's no blackberry JVM for the device manager to connect to (BBC is a piece of software) so you can't do a wired activation to the BES. The blackberry desktop software for the blackberry connects needs to connect to a mailbox to store the configuration info...GroupWise does not use the mailbox.

They've just gotten around to lifting the .pdf files and information from here that were posted several days ago. Nothing new.

Still no FCC approval as of yet....Going to be tough to put out a device in less than 24 hours before the FCC has yet to approve it

I just did a chat with a verizon sales rep for the fun of it. here is what was said...

A Verizon Wireless online pre-sales specialist has joined the chat. You are now chatting with Faith
Faith: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
You: when is the blackberry 8703 being released?
Faith: I currently have not been provided with a specific launch date or pricing information for that phone. If you're interested in being the first to get this phone, you can register online and an email will be sent to you as soon as it's available.
You: where is that link on your website?
Faith: Im sorry, the link is not available at this time.
You: lol, thanks
Faith: It should be available in about 2 weeks.
You: the link or the device?
Faith: The link.
You: so it will be more than 2 weeks until the device is available?
Faith: More than likely, we dont have the release date.
You: ok, thanks

Not sure what you mean. The documents posted on the FCC site have a grant date of 8/23/06 and 8/24/06 for the L6ARBF20CW 8703e Blackberry. There should be no reason the release is being delayed because of FCC approval.

Verizon usually makes a dedicated flash site for a new phone 14/10 days before it is out (they did it with the Q and Chocolate). Maybe the flash site will be up on Sept 1 and the phone out mid Sept...

As for all of these "documents", I can make something that says its supposed to be released in 2 minutes, so unless everyone is hoping to have their hopes shot down every Monday and Friday, don't believe anything until Verizon tells us.

That's usually true for phones Verizon wants to promote heavily. But with the Blackberries, its usually low keyed; no hype. We'll have to wait and see. I'm still waiting for a response from my VZ wireless insider.

I was the one who posted those .PDF files, in my 4shared.com hosting, there is nothing newer than that so far...

And BBHub didn't even give me credit for that...

Default Treo Rebate....

I just checked the PDA section of the Verizon website; Treos have a new $100 rebate that expires on 9/10.

Stackin' them deep and sellin' them cheap to make room for the BB 8703 later in September?
