Default Unlocking 9300 - Issues

Please Login to Remove!

So I bought a 9300 Curve to replace my 9530 Storm.
The 9300 is locked to Telus in Canada, so I need to unlock it to work on the Bell HSPA Network. This is the first time I've ever unlocked a phone. I know people do it all the time, so I went online and bought an Unlock code. No problem.

The instructions to unlock the phone say to Go to Options > Advanced Options > Sim Card. There you're supposed to input MEPD, followed by MEP2. This should prompt for the unlock code. On my 9300, after those inputs, nothing shows up.

Has anyone here unlocked their 9300? If so, do your unlock instructions differ from what I have? I have searched and come up with no other options. Thanks!

If you unlock and decide to keep it, don't forget to update your profile.

The 9300 series is very new so I doubt if many have the device and fewer yet have unlocked it. I am surprised that you even got a code.

What OS are you running?

What screen do you get after you go to SIM?

Can"t offer a solution but can offer advice to others looking to unlock: make sure that you use a reputable unlock company such as one of our sponsors, Horizon Wireless Online.

I found an unlocker that seemed to be reputable, I suppose there's different levels of competency when it comes to knowing the phones, I dont even know how the unlock codes are generated. I will definitely look at going to HorizonWireless.

I'm running v5.0.0.832

After SIM, nothing is displayed. Enter MEPD and the following is displayed:
SIM: Disabled
Network: Disabled
Network Subset: Disabled
Service Provider: Disabled
Corporate: Disabled

That's why it won't show the code box, its already unlocked, as network says Disabled.

How do I determine if my BlackBerry is "unlocked"? - BlackBerryFAQ

Right, it does appear to be unlocked now. The question now, I suppose, is why won't my SIM card work? The card is active (works in a 9700) But won't work on the 9300. Screen displays Insert SIM Card. I can have the Mobile Network turned off, and when I switch it on, it will show a few bars of service for a second, then switch to SOS again. Any ideas?

Found out the issue. There's actually a connector missing where the SIM Card inserts into the phone. The phone was properly unlocked, but wouldn't recognize the SIM Card because it wasn't making contact with the phone. I'll have to get a new handset.
