Major lag, lot of "rotating hourglass" >>
Please Login to Remove!
I'm getting a ton of lag on my Curve, frustrating. The trackball can't keep up with my scrolling and I am constantly greeted with the rotating hourglass. I've never experienced this on any other BB, and I've had most all of them.
Anyone else?

Hmmm
It's been 5 hours since activation, so I would assume that's done, right?

Start over
Wipe the handheld and remove yourself from the BES and start over.

Yep-- same problem here. And this was with no set up to either BIS or BES yet, just simple POP3 accounts.

Sounds crazy, and too simple!
But all I did was remove the battery last night and let it charge to a full 100%. Today my Curve feels just as speedy as my 8800, much improved from
yesterday. Also, I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I'm using the at&t
sim card that it came with instead of my old Cingular sim card that came with my 8800.
I activated it last night with cutomer care. Anyway, the phone seems to be running much better today!

I removed and reinstalled my battery after getting all set up yesterday and have had zero lagging problems. I would suggest everyone do the same to see if it helps.

Let us know if the battery did the trick. Mine is fine but I have to support 800 attorneys so I hope this does not become an issue.

Have you thought about wiping and restarting? Also maybe remove and readd yourself to BES maybe the BES is restoring some data from yuor prev BB that the Curve does not like.
I would wipe and do BIS first and see if its normal then activate on BES and see if it remains normal.

The Hourglass problem, is a result of you are all experiencing memory leakage, which, in addition to it being sort of a known blackberry problem, certain apps, like Empower HTML mail viewer, accelerate the process. By removing the battery, and, rebooting, you are bringing the free memory back to its maximum, and use over time will drain the memory again. I run out of memory after about 6 hours of use, but, I am pretty confident (from reading other threads), that Empower is accelerating my memory leak.

Yep, sounds like a classic memory management problem. Most likely culprits are 3rd party apps. You gotta do a "garbage cleanup" by pulling the battery.
My geezer of a 7100 needs this every 4-6 months. Compare that to a Palm!

Well, now, there are 2 severely different Blackberry experiences !!
Then again, every 4-6 months, I get a NEW Blackberry (and with the upcoming devices coming, THAT also may be accelerated) ....
I guess you're not using too many 3rd party apps!
