Default BBWeather

I've tried installing it OTA with the BB browser, and it locks my phone up. I've uninstalled it from DM and tried it several times, always the same result.

It just starts up and says something to the effect of "no profiles installed"

You have to create a profile. Press Menu while in BBWeather.

Make sure you have the latest version of BB Weather downloaded. Older versions do not work.

Linking to sourceforge from BBforums in my BB browser I get version 0.74. Not the newest.

And it's a PITA to load it from DM b/c my Windows partition does not have network access.

Got it working, thanks for the link not Doug:D

There is a guy named Doug that has made quite a name for himself in the hot rod diesel world that I'm 99% sure is in Harrisburg, PA. He has the same avatar on the diesel forums.

And go to "status" under options and you will find your PIN:D

Glad it is working. Name's Jason BTW (not Doug)

Coincidence about the avatar. I am not a big hot rod enthusiast.

Thanks for the heads up on the PIN location

I'm Nick

I'd be a bigger hotrod guy if I had more money. That is one expensive hobby.

I just downloaded the BB weather OTA via the link shown in the above post which is version 74.

I keep getting the same message: invalid URL parameter

Any suggestions?

I recently upgraded the OS to 4.5 w/o issue. I tried to reboot, but it still will not work.

Thanks for the help

"Invalid URL" means BBWeather is trying to contact the data server but isn't making it.

Try going into options (don't press the menu key, press the trackball, scroll down to Options) & click that checkbox that says, "Disable MDS Proxy". Save, then exit.

If you then get a pause then "Tunnel failed", you are probably having a WAP failure on the device, and plenty of other program won't work either. WAP is a data channel used by much software (BB Browser & EMail work without just fine).

My carrier is TMobile, you'll need to find a different WAP Server for whoever your carrier is...but for me:

(TMobile only)

Options>Advanced>TCP
APN: wap.voicestream.com

Hope this helps. BTW--my hot rod of choice? A mighty '61 Corvair station wagon. Woo-hoo!

I had problems with 0.74. Not sure about 0.77, but the new version 0.81 should be officially out tomorrow or Friday. 0.82 may come out at the same time, which enables WiFi support.

I'm running 0.81 and it works great with no special configuration needed.

Default BBWeather 0.81

Is out and working on my Bold. It gives you some very nice enhancements, like displaying hourly conditions and customizing the icon and tweaking how and when it loads. I temporarily lost BBWeather after an OS upgrade, and despite trying a number of similar programs, I missed it more and more, and it seems to be getting better and better. I would like to be able to link to Severe Weather Alerts though.
