Default Liquid Damage Indicator

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

The perl on my 8300 just randomly stopped working when I started to scroll downward. It still works in all other directions. The problem began to occur after I got caught out in lite rain. I am pretty sure the phone wasnt exposed to any moisture and was planning on doing a warranty exchange. Does anyone know where the Liquid Damage Indicator on the 8300 is located and what it looks like when the phone has been exposed to water? (so i know whether this is the issue or it is totally unrelated)

Thanks

yes, there are instructions posted on the FAQ site for disassembly for the trackball. Look there, under either the 8300, 8800 or 8100 model. Likewise there are on this site, but you need to search for it, and don't use "perl" in the search term, look for "cleaning trackball" or "disassemble trackball" or similar.

Good luck.

I had a phone here that got wet and it turned pink. It was a sanyo phone, not a BB, however. It had a red mesh pattern on the label, then when it went red, it turned completely pink.

The indicators on the batteries are NOT moisture indicators. The only moisture indicator you can see is inside the battery compartment as discussed earlier in this thread.

It would only make sense that an indicator would be on the device itself, not the battery. Since batteries are replacable, anybody could buy a new battery and claim the device was never in contact with moisture.

When I called warranty they had me check the white sticker by teh SIM insert that has the IMEI on it and a small white circle. that Circle apparently turns colors. The X's on the battery are irrelevant.

Referencing the post above, the sticker that goes down teh long side of the phone, the circle that has the UL in it is the circle referenced.

It's possible but the material on the label with the IMEI is plastic coated. I think the Tech was thinking of the small round blank white sticker that is found on many other phones. The tiny square sticker shown in the photo in the link seems most likely to be the moister indicator. I have found that the techs often give incorrect info.

I see it and that little square on mine looks to be it. Never noticed that before . . . obviously.
