Not exactly sure of what you're asking, but application can be downloaded OTA from Google Maps -- maps themselves are automatically downloaded OTA as necessary by the application.

I'm not so sure that the missing GPS from the Curve is a bug. I noticed that the latest upgrade of Blackberry Maps also removes GPS (ver 1.2.28). ver 1.2.26 still had GPS. It does seem like GPS features are being removed from Curve software.

BT GPS is still available on my TMo 8100. Sorry, can't tell you about the 8300.

1.6 only affected the Curve, not the other BBs, so I assume it's still going to be crippled on the 1.61...

Yes, that occurred to me. I would, but I'm happy I was able to find an old version to put back on my Curve, and it's working okay for now... don't want to mess it up and lose the puck functionality again. Call me careful.

Maybe after a glass of wine I'll feel more adventurous.

Well since you have the older version, you can try this, report back and if it does not work, uninstall and then install the older version.

The v1.6.1 release does not work for the 8703e (just as v1.6 did not) -- you can install v1.5.4 OTA using:

http://www.google.com/gmm/apps/v1.5....4+1&ver=v1.5.4
