EVDO REV. 0 and REV. A are both considered 3g wireless technologies. EVDO REV. 0 cannot support voice and data simultaneously because of it's low upstream capabilities and latency, this is why they have REV. A.

REV A. can support VOIP and thus do data and voice at the same time (Sprint kind of already is with QCHAT). This is something that Verizon or Sprint has to allow though as it will put significant more traffic on their EVDO networks.

The only CDMA Blackberry device even capable of doing voice and data at the same time currently is the Blackberry Storm. Rumor has it that Sprint and Verizon will both be supporting voice and data at the same time as they continue to beef up their REV A. coverage and networks.
My research showed the same. It has to be VOIP voice streams. I have not heard of this being enabled at this time.

More accurately, Rev. A is 3.5G, akin to HSPA on the GSM side of the house.

Mark there is no current plans for Rev B. It will be Rev A and then LTE but the devices are going to be the hold up for LTE.

Qualcomm Chipset Supports Simultaneous Voice and Data Usage

*Qualcomm has introduced the industry’s first chipset solution for Smartphones supporting CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. B and Simultaneous Voice-Data Operation (SV-DO), as well as multi-carrier HSPA+ and LTE. The MSM8960 chipset is scheduled to sample in mid-2010.

“Multi-mode 3G/LTE chipsets will be crucial to smooth deployments of LTE by operators who are looking to complement their existing 3G networks, and the MSM8960 delivers maximum flexibility by supporting EV-DO Rev. B and HSPA+ in addition to LTE,” said Steve Mollenkopf, executive vice president of Qualcomm and president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies. “The MSM8960 raises the bar for LTE solutions by not only offering support for all leading mobile broadband standards, but also integrating exceptional multimedia performance. This allows device manufacturers to leverage their existing HSPA+ device designs for significant economies of scale.”

The MSM8960 features radio frequency, software and pin-compatibility with the MSM8260 and MSM8660 chipsets for HSPA+ and HSPA+/EV-DO Rev. B, allowing device manufacturers to benefit from the economies of scale and existing investments into designs based on those two solutions. The MSM8960 chipset also supports LTE-TDD.

The MSM8960 is compatible with the QTR8610 transceiver, which integrates support for all worldwide CDMA2000 and UMTS radio frequency bands and eliminates the need for standalone GPS, Bluetooth, FM radio chips and codecs. The QTR8610 is scheduled to sample in the fourth quarter of 2009.
