Default Poll--8700 Not going to sleep (Have you checked?)

Please Login to Remove!

I'm curious...how many of you who have checked your 8700 screen when it's in the holster have determined that the device is NOT going into sleep mode. My hunch is that many of us who are experiencing less-than-stellar battery performance can attribute the problem to the no-sleep malfunction.

about 50% of the time, the unit stays on with the plastic holster.

Easy to check. Just hold the back of the case against the BB, the magnet should be about the space bar or a little higher. Curiously enough mine works about 9 out of 10 times. That 10th time however....

Mine seems to be working, my first charge lasted 4 days, doubt that would happen if it weren't sleeping ;)

Actually, it's not so easy. It's a matter of how the device fits in the holster. My device will go into sleep mode if you hold a magnet or the backside of the holster in the right place. However, when I place my device in the holster, it does not line up with the magnet sufficiently well to turn the device off.

Mine 1st one was not. Had to RMA the entire BB just to get a new holster. If I were to do it again I would wait 31 days from purchase and get cingular accessories to send a new hoslter. They will not help for items less than 30 days old.

.....I bought it online but local Cingular store replaced just the holster. Guess I got lucky and found a Cingular employee that agreed with me how silly it was to replace a 3 day old functioning phone because of a defective holster.

i'm having the same issue - i take it the new holster solved the problem for you all?

i kept getting frustrated bc my phone wasn't vibrating as it should while in the holster... it works if i snap it in and squeeze the two together (to ensure contact was made), but no way will i remember to do that all the time.
