Default Goodbye Pearl, Hello Bold

Please Login to Remove!

Just wanted to say after months of testing, my trusty 8120 is in the desk drawer. The stupid hour glass popping up constantly on the 8120 just pushed me too far. The Bold is fast, REAL fast. Programs like Slacker execute and start playback in seconds instead of minutes. Viigo flies, the Browser flies, Spell Check in E-mail is ultra quick, e-mail transmission is quick. The MyU theme from PimpMyBerry is PERFECT for business users.

I just hate how HUGE this thing is, and getting used to this ULTRA large keyboard is a task. Typing while driving is not nearly as easy and I cant drop it in my pocket as easy when going to the club with the ladies. Ain't cool strapping a phone to your side during a night on the town. When RIM releases a 9000 series Pearl, the Bold is in the drawer. Until then. I am enjoying my stay.

Well welcome to Club Bold!

Did you check out the Curves before jumping to the Bold? I have one and lstill ove it; might have been more to your liking, size wise anyway.

As far as strapping it to your side, it makes you look all executive like.

OK Ok ............ or a nerd! lol

I had the same issues going from a 8100 Pearl to the Bold. It seemed so large, but after a few months you cannot pry it from my hand! The keyboard is sooo much better than suretype, and 3G screams.

Thanks everyone. Been on it all day from 5am to 11pm. Gobs of PINs from Sheriff, Captains and other elected officials, SMS from the wife and friends, E-mails from Vendors and Homeland Security, BB Messenger hits from Contractors and BeeJiveIM banging on Yahoo/AIM/MSN all day keeping me in touch with Judge's and Chambers, the DA's Office and coworkers...she got a good workout.

This morning at the Health Club, streaming through Slacker was effortless while in BeeJiveIM planning the day. Viigo constantly ran throughout the day to keep me up to date with the changing world as well as keeping me abreast of all the RSS feed 911 complaints we had and then mapping those Calls for Service with Google Maps. The 8120 (and coworkers 8310s) would have needed to reboot at least twice, maybe 3 times. The Bold hammered on, strong like iron and fast like a Kenyan in race. The phone may be big, but it is a work horse. I litterally beat the buttons until 11pm tonight trying to close down projects. I am absolutely impressed. The Bold didn't miss a lick. I think we were asking alot from the 8xxx devices. The 9000 seems to love what we do to it and want more.

These are the themes I use. I currently use the MyU as I like clean and simple. These themes maintain the Bolds look and feel which is another reason I like them. Can't beleive they were free. This guy gets a donation for sure. I keep E-Mail, SMS, BB Messenger, BeeJiveIM, web browser, Calendar, Address Book, Slacker, Viigo and Media ready to go in the bars as I use them alot. The pix show folders, rest assured it uses animated Bold buttons.

I can't believe I'm the first one to comment on your "typing while driving".... Dude, that's not cool at all. I've been almost smashed by so many cars with people just talking on their cell, let alone typing on it. It's illegal here for a reason.

Other than that cheerful thought; once you get used to the Bold, it's hard to look at any other. They're beautiful pieces of work. =)

And I am in Law Enforcement. Sometimes we get so wrapped up with information delivery we fear being without it. Even our elected officials are Driving Under the Influence of Blackberry while driving. I have seen my life flash before me more times than I care to count.

So the Bold cured me of that addiction. Now I drive and stream music from the Bold to my car stereo. It should be made illegal. We would all straighten up.
