Default How to Web Browse direct over WiFi - not via BES & corporate network

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Is it possible to tell the BlackBerry to browse the Internet directly, through my WiFi connection, rather than through the BES?

I have a WiFi connection, but all this does is enable the BlackBerry to talk to the corporate BES over my Internet connection, all web browsing is still going through the BES Server and out through the corporate network.

This would not matter too much, but the office have recently prevented the corporate network from having access to Facebook, so the Facebook App no longer works.

It would be great if I could get the Facebook App to work when I am at home over Wifi, which means finding a way to make Web Browsing work direct, not through the BES.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks...

Well, unless an IT Policy exists on the BES to prevent this you can always:
Goto Options, Advanced Options, Browser and change "Default borwser configuration" to Internet Browser.

Then, go back and open the browser. If you have a bookmark for Browser change the bookmark to Internet Browser as well.

Now you should be able to disable Cellular and browse over WiFi as a test. Works for me all the time. Of course, I am the BES admin.

Thanks for the advice...

When I go into this setting, the only option that I have for "Default browser configuration" is "BlackBerry Browser".

...so I guess this means it is locked down by the BES policy.

oh well!

Probably,
Or the Service Book hasn't been pushed by Vodafone to you or your running firmware 5.0.0.90 on your Bold. But I am sure it is the BES Policy.
