Default Exchange and Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

I was just hired to a new company and they notified me that they use Exchange and that in order to use their service etc I must purchase a device that supports it (Mot. Q, Iphone etc). I've been a BB user now for 5 years and don't EVER want to go back. I realize that I will not be able to sync my contacts, calander etc but is there anyway I can AT LEAST get my emails?

Default BIS Supports Exchange

The Blackberry Internet Service (comes with a standard BB plan)
will handle Exchange e-mail. If you run Outlook on your desktop, you
can use something like ScheduleWorld (scheduleworld.com) to sync
your calendar and contacts, although you have to leave your desktop
machine running.

Thanks. I am not really interested in syncing anything else up. I just need access to my company email. So I assume I just set up my company email (which is on an exchange server) through BIS via a POP email account?

if you're exchange server has POP mail enabled, which it shouldn't. You might have IMAP enabled at work, but will most likely use the OWA server (web mail) address.

just go to Exchange features on the server and have it copy the email to a web email account i.e. google mail or hotmail, don't forget to tick the box to say you want it copied to both the web mail and the exchange mail account. Set the BB up to receive the mail from the web account. Or most carriers have a web mail service for BB which will let you send in your company name.

My employer uses the same. I have my email forwarded to my yahoo mail. You can't reply but you still get the emails. The $20 for the bis is not worth it to me.

See if your exchange administrator will set up BES Express server on the exchange server and you'll have all your data. This is what BlackBerry's are meant for! 1 user, 1 license is free.

That whole forwarding your exchange email to an outside web address is just another hole in the security your IT department probably spends half their work hours on.

So BIS does not support syncing of Exchange Calendars via IMAP or OWA?
