Just updated to the latest OS version but this issue was present prior to the update so wondering if it's more than just a software bug.

Almost every time I'm typing text for an SMS or Email, upon hitting the 'y' key for the word 'you' or 'your', etc., the cursor jumps up to the CC field.

Is this just my phone or does anyone else experience this?

No to answer your question. Definitely not damp/wet, although possibly dropped, but not violently and only possibly on a carpet.

Is it just that, always that, or does the Y key mistype at other times with different results?

Odd, random key failure, or key failure in various apps and on various screen would suggest to me a hardware problem associated with the keypad. But if the odd behavior only occurs in the messaging apps and always in exactly the same way, then I would think less of a possible hardware problem.

I realise you did an OS update and had this problem before, but I spect you may have done a full restore and didn't test with just the stock OS install before adding your data and apps.

You could try doing a full backup, then do a security wipe and delete all third-party apps and themes, and then test.

Odds are it is a problem with the keyboad components. If you do your best to rule out software you'll have as much confidence as you can that it is a hardware problem.

Always the Y key sending the cusor up to - usually - the subject line or the second recipient line. Never another key, never elsewhere. The issue is intermittent though.

It only happens when messaging,yes.

I'm pretty sure you're correct, yes.

Yes I have but I'm pretty sure the issue was present as soon as I received the phone, prior to installing any apps.
