Default Vodafone Storm (uk)

Please Login to Remove!

I have a storm from a private seller which was originally on VF (as the only supplier in UK). I bought the unlock code and got the phone unlocked from VF. I inserted my ORANGE sim card and all was ok it showed service. I tried to register on the ORANGE web site so i could send the service books to allow me to get emails. The ORANGE site tells me that this phone is allready registered with another mobile operator ie VODAPHONE. This is a new, unused Storm; has anyone any ideas how i go about getting it unregistered from VODAPHONE and re-registered with ORANGE so i can get the service books sent to the phone to allow me to send and receive e-mail?

I cant find any other threads for information any help would be appreciated

Go to your set up folder and look for an email settings icon (not the set up wizard). Set up from there and also create a username and password which you can then also use on the website.

If that doesn't work navigate to Oranges site on the BB.

Good luck

But... If you already had an Orange bb account log into the site and select 'change device'. Usually it would autodetect the new PIN and IMEI though.

Default Storm Vodafone

Thanks for the replies,
ive tried navigating to orange site but as i said it just says that the storm is registered elsewhere. It seems that even though the phone is legally unlocked it is still tethered to VF and i have to get yet another code from VF to get it released (if thats at all possible with VF in UK )

You shouldn't have to get another code of any kind.

With the Orange sim in the storm go to options > advanced options > host routing table > menu > register now. Then if you receive a registration message all should be good to go.

This was covererd in the media last month.

Vodafone Storms being sold on eBay

But you bought it from someone, paid good money, so you should not have to pay to Vodafone again. Speak to your local Trading Standards if VF try to say no or try to charge you for the release code.

Before you buy one, have a read of the comments by the RIM CEO

RIM CEO Interview

Also you need the original network to release the PIN etc to get full BB services and in the UK, VF are refusing to do that.

I am sorry, I really wanted the phone to work., but the signal is the main thing. If you look at the vodafone forum, they keep closing all the threads that complain about signal. Their response is "we are waiting on RIM", its two and half months, if the signal issue is not resolved now I doubt if it will. The problem they have got it that if it is hardware issue, it will cost them millions to replace all the handsets, so it is easier to close all the signal related threads.

If you get a chance or feel like it, try 8900 on a different network (VF one has issues, now thats a surprise!). you will enjoy it.

Default Update

Hi
just to update anyone interested;

i have tried 'ALL' the suggestions proferred to no avail

I contacted a very helpful technichal guy at Vodafone and they say they have no trace of my imei or pin on their system so it shouldnt be a prblem registering it on Orange. He advised me to contact BB themselves...is there a human there ? is there hell as like unless you have your credit card ready they wont talk to you.

So;

i am able to use phone but no internet or browser icon i will keep trying to find the black hole whiich my Storm seems to have dissapeared into

Still grateful for any suggestions that are physically and biologically possible

Sorry to be a party pooper, but every BB that is sent to a network is logged against their name. Unfortunately, what you will find is that most VF CS and Tech people are new and know nothing. There is a Reasearch in Motion office in Slough, Berks, UK, you can ring the main switchboard number on 01753 669970 and ask to speak to someone regarding your issue.
Please dont hold your breath though !

Talking

pnp23

Don't worry, thank you, you advised me before getting in troubles.

you're right, it is a serious problem.I cant understand why they monopolise it

if they don't have that capability to resolve the device problems.

Actually, I wanted to buy it instead of iphone, but now i'll think about buying iphone.

Thank you
