Default BIS email question

Please Login to Remove!

So I use my gmail account extensively. Say it is [email address]

I give [email address] to people for business purposes and [email address] for other purposes so that I filter/label the [email address] emails. (GMAIL does not recognize the dots in username so it will be eventually to same person.

NOW MY QUESTION is that can I set up both [email address] and [email address] as emails on my blackberry device? Will they both receive emails no matter to which email it is sent to? Will it mess up my emails anyhow?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Here is what I'm guessing. If no one else knows for sure, you'll just have to test.

One would typically add an email account to BIS just by entering the email account and the password. RIM servers take ot from there. In some cases users have to go into an advanced setup and provide the server information.

BIS then grabs messages from the email server inbox and pushes messages to the device.

If abcdef and abc.def will both go to the same inbox that you successfully add to BIS, then messages sent to either address will be delivered to the BlackBerry, and will show on the BlackBerry as having been sent to the address you entered into BIS during set up.

That's what I expect will happen, anyway. Is that what you are asking?

I would guess that if you add both, messages will be delivered to the device twice.

I find it odd, but not surprising, that Google breaks the rules on email address uniqueness.

At any rate, just test it and report how it works.
