Hello,

To all of you who have already purchased and used/road tested the BB 8900 for the last couple of weeks, please post your impressions, a brief critique, pros, cons, features, defects, are you happy/unhappy with it, etc., etc. whatever comes to your mind:

I have had my 8900 for a few weeks now and love it.
I used an 8320 before and an 8100 before that.
In comparison to the 8320, the 8900 looks and feels more "Professional". I loved my 8320. It fit well in my hand and I could find accesories anywhere.
The 8900 fits well, too, and seems lighter and "firmer" than my 8320. The screen is MUCH better than any other phone I have ever seen. The keys are firm, easy to find while not looking and feel good.
I don't like the MicroUSB port and I don't like where it is located. But, I guess that is going to be the standard (in 2012) and I had better get used to it. I would also like to find more accessories for the 8900. (Like a silicone case with a detachable swivel clip...ARE YOU LISTENING BODY GLOVE?)

Pros: Brilliant screen, GPS, fast processor, bigger internal memory, Wifi/UMA, great overall design, blazing internet/data speed, 3.2 mp camera, much more stable, solid built, loud and crisp speaker, call quality is excellent, black trackball (I hate the white one because it gets dirty).

Cons: Memory card placing sucks, USB port located in the bottom right (really awkward), not many apps/themes/accessories available for now, and I personally don't like the new browser.

Overall: I'm totally happy with it, best BB I have ever had.

I have also had no problems or issues with the 8900, either the phone itselt or T-Mobile.

I too have the 8320 and although I enjoyed owning the phone and it's operation was very smooth, the 8900 does feel firmer, keys are easier to locate, the screen is MUCH brighter and it is an overall an excellent improvement over the 8320 and a GREAT addition to the T-Mobile Blackberry line!

T-Mobile Customer Service has always been first rate with me and they have always been not only very helpful but very accomodating as well!

I lost my 8900 recently and it would have cost me $359.99 ($429.99- $70 loyalty rebate-still not a bad deal!) with a 1 year commitment. I have a kid's connect line on my account and although that line is not authorized to be upgraded to the 8900, the CSR spent some time working the system so I could get another 8900 for $349 ($10 less is still a good deal!). Unfortunately, the $100 rebate is not applicable since I don't have data service on that line.

I ordered the phone on the 18th and it will be delivered by UPS Monday, the 22nd. No backorder and 4 day delivery time is really pretty good!

I can't say anything bad about either the 8900 or T-Mobile.

I can't imagine how I survived before the 8900... Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating just a tad, but it's an awesome smart phone!

ive had mine since in feb sometime and i think the charging port is in the wrong place i cant let it charge and type like i used to on the 8320, and the OS is WAY more stable than my storms OS. if u liked the first curve you'll love the new one

I totally love my (first) BB. Except I bought it from a guy and now I have to deal with a registered PIN. The phone was brand new, complete package, never opened.

Had the 8900 for about 2 weeks, used an 8320 and 8100 before. IMO the 8320 is faster for me to type on because the keys are farther apart than the 8900 and they have flat tops (the 8900 keys are angled to the outside for the 2 thumbs). Pressing on the 8900 keys requires a tad less force so it's easier to double up a letter. Not a huge deal really. Plusses of the 8900 are many: screen brilliant, speed is very fast (loading photos, documents, whatever), media player is excellent for audio and video. email is the same as always, excellent. The speaker is better by far. People complain about the battery but my wife (8320) and I took the same 3 day trip, kept our phones on, and her battery died before mine did (still 10% after almost 3 days). It's a great phone IMO. Way better than my 8100 (which I loved) and better than her 8320. The clock mode rocks!

Had the 8900 for about 5 days now, had an 8320, 8310 and 8300 before it.

This is the best mobile device I have ever used. EVERYTHING about it is better than the 83xx in my opinion. With the updated OS even the battery life is much better. It's faster, brighter, crisper, much more professional looking and feeling. The keys are much more springy and responsive, the speakers are much higher quality and louder, the new browser is great and I even use it over Opera.

The only con I have is the lack of themes right now. However, I downloaded the newest version of the Plazmic software and made my own theme (which I have already posted on the Media section) and it was simple. I couldn't make any of the really intricate themes that some of the other users posted but I was very easily able to make a Today/Zen hybrid that showed my text messages in Today format and the rest of my icons in Zen format. Took about 30 minutes to figure it all out.


I can't put my 8900 down. I'm more excited about this phone than when I first picked up a Curve a couple years ago. It's basically everything great about the 83xx Curves but better in every aspect. I would highly recommend it.

Thanks very much to all who took the time to respond. It seems clear that i will be buying one of these. My trusty old 8800 is getting a little funny in its old age. I gotta say though..it was a great phone. I hate to put him out to pasture.

Been using my 8900 about a week. Also own and use a Bold.

Likes:
- Vastly superior camera
- Sleek design
- T-Mobile UMA (voice and data over Wi-Fi)

Dis-Like:
- Smaller keys (compared to Bold)
- Experience more reboots/freezes compared to Bold
- Smaller screen/fonts/graphics
- Lacks 3G
- T-Mobile smaller coverage range

to add, the camera with it's auto focus works much better than expected. it adds worlds of functionality over my previous 8100's camera. another pleasant surprise is the amazing sound quality of the music player. you really can replace your mp3 player with this phone.

the negative is that with all the added functionality of gps, uma, and great apps like garmin and slacker, is that you'll never put the phone down. all the great things this phone can do will just mean further battery drain.

I've been using mobile phones for about 17 years (the first was barely "mobile"!), and blackberry's for about 4, having had an 8700, 8800, 8100 (Pearl), and 8300 (Curve) prior to getting the 8900. The 8900 is, without question, the best I've used to date -- solid feel, perfect form factor for me, great camera and video cam, WiFi/UMA works fantastically well, GPS, tons of memory, gorgeous display, and a processor that's fast enough so that I no longer have ANY lag moving from screen to screen, app to app, etc. Loving this device!

I have only had it for 3 days, but I love it! The 8320 was a huge upgrade for me from the 8100, but this blows that upgrade away by 10x-15x! The only things that strike me as "cons" are:
the charging port location and its no longer mini-usb?
the lock button on the top end (accidental locks when pushing it into the case)
lack of themes (OK, so that isn't really a con )

"pros" are pretty much everythng else, but the highlights for me are:
Reception is better
WiFi has more range
Camera is tons better
Keyboard is better
Looks are better
Things are faster
OEM themes have several folders
The thing is just nice!

I have been using the 8900 since the release and it is a the best BlackBerry that I have owned. I had the 7100, 8700, 8320, and tried many others but this is the best one to date. Sure I wish it had 3G but honestly the only time I miss that is when tethering.

Pros: Faster Processor, More memory, 3.2 MP camera (with permanent lens cover, no more dust), Screen resolution and color, Lightweight.

Cons: Micro USB connector (the connector itself and the placement).

Suggestion: If you use the 8900 while charging, invest in a Micro USB rigth angle connector. You can find these on Amazon and other places and they will save you a lot of aggravation.

Bought 2 three weeks ago and already have a replacement for one of them in the mail because the trackball and keys completely stopped working.
