To me the new 9700 does not even feel like a Bold. My 9000 just feels like a classy phone. It has substance and is sexy. The 9700 is just a glorified 8900 with 3G. Rim should of released a proper replacement for the Bold. I cannot justify paying $299.00, I will keep my 9000 until something better comes along.

Agreed....I'm considering to go bakc to the Bold 9000 from the 9700 for the keyboard, screen and feel/design. The only thing stopping me is the smaller size for my pocket and better battery life, not that the Bold was bad.

Possibly the new white 9000, that things is pimped sweet!

CLASSY! LOL.

Are you even listening to what you're saying?

I get that you like the slower, bulkier and poorer camera phone, but it's not classier!

People, you are so influenced by marketing you have no idea!

I find the Bold's chrome buttons in the bezel looks "smarter" or even "classier" than the rubberised black buttons in the 9700.
To me the rubber makes it look a bit cheap.

Id rather have proper buttons than the rubber "over a button" look.

I also find the screen, with the bevelled shaped sides looks slightly less appealing than the bold's smooth flat screen.

One other thing that I found appealing is the size of the 9700, it's almost identical compare to my 8900.

And I never thought I would say this since it's a bold, but the 9700 keyboard is amazing!

I am divided, as I like the bigger screen on the 9000, but I have to admit the extreme better battery power consumption is a definite winner for the 9700, in addition for the unit to run things somewhat faster than the 9000.

Anyone upgrading from something else than the 9000, I cannot imagine that they wouldn't like the 9700.

Just one minor headache, new accessories are required e.g. new usb/sync cable, car adapter...as the newer blackberries are now using a micro usb!

At first I couldn't get over how much lighter and "plasticy" the 9700 felt. It's grown on me though and I like the increased camera as well as more application memory.

If it makes the mid-day "out of memory" problems disappear then I'll deem it a worthy upgrade for my usage pattern

Thank goodness you aren't though, right? I mean, it must be nice to be so pure an individual... such a free thinker. Count yourself lucky that you aren't burdened with the inability to think for yourself like the rest of us "common folk" are.

I long for the day that I can break myself free from these chains wrapped around me by major marketing departments around the world. Just once I want to buy something because I want it, not because someone else wants me to want it. Of course, how would I convince myself that I want it not because someone else wants me to want it, but because I want it just because I want it? Well, I guess one day I'll have an enlightened experience just as you must have, and it will all make sense.

Torberry, just know that you are my hero. Although you probably can't see me because I am lost in a sea of robotic consumers guided by marketing, know that I look up to you... and not because some flashy marketing campaign told me I want to.

I'm already headed there. I saw a commercial last night for them, and once I finished wiping the drool from my mouth, I decided that I must have one. Or possibly two.

See, you are totally controlled by advertising and marketing.
I KNEW IT.

While you are out (and, by the way, you should have been out YESTERDAY), pick up something else you don't need.

I went out yesterday and picked up some new fluorescent tubes for the kitchen overhead. Strange, though, as I don't have a fluorescent light fixture in the kitchen. I'm still scratching my head over that one, but it sure seemed like the right thing to buy at the time.

I never get all that excited about electronics but now that I have the Bold 9700, I am hooked. I absolutely LOVE this phone. The new trackpad is amazing. I got used to it in about 5 seconds and never looked back to the trackball, no more dirt, an gunk on the trackball. The phone is fast as lightning on downloads. Wi-Fi and 3G work great! I get 3G almost all the time even here in Maine. It's feels smaller than my Curve. In fact my 9700 sits veru loosley in the belt cliip leather case I was using for my Curve. I don't like to make predictions but I think the 9700 is where it's at right now and will be "the" phone to have.

I would really like to know the statistics on the following:

How many early adopters, of the 9000, that complained about its size being too large, are now also part of the group saying the 9700 is too small.

Though very few would ever admit to such a reversal in opinion, because preference and opinion never waiver, it would be interesting to to know.

I saw that same commercial and was also overcome with an irresistable urge to buy one, but my wife and I were in the woods relaxing in separate bathtubs at the time, so I couldn't justify getting dressed and going to the store.

I would also be curious to hear this. I was an early adopted of the 9000, purchased it the day after it was released on AT&T but never had a problem with the size. Even now after having switched to the 9700 as of last Friday, I appreciate the 9700's smaller form factor but the 9000's size was never a problem for me. Perhaps it is because I have ridiculously big hands, but I am almost prefer the 9000 in that single aspect. Though I am accustomed to the 9700 now and have no regrets in switching to it, in my opinion at least nothing beats the 9000's keyboard. Also I didn't think the 9700's smaller screen size would be noticeable, but to me it is.

That all said I love this phone and am glad I made the switch. Especially so given the price I paid for it, $125 after MIR and only 1 year into my 2 year plan. The increased memory is great, haven't had to battery pull once. Also the battery life is amazing. Perhaps my 9000's battery was faulty as this one seems to last at least twice as long.
