1) i dont know. i have an 8900. i wont be able to answer this for a while; it takes a few days to get an idea of how battery life is
2) i dont use SMS (i use google voice) but afaik, this issues has been solved for quite a few builds now.
3) i never had any of these voice jitter issues.

Installed it this morning, so far so good.
All my previously instaleld Apps still work.
I don't have the weirdness with the mouse in the browser.
All BB Messenger contacts are there.
SMS works fine.
Battery life seems the same as it was for .509.
So far, so good!

anyone else's BB got nuked shortly after the update?
i thought it was just me but reports are now coming in on various forums that this version is fairly unstable and is nuking phones. People are having issues with their sms, mms, msn, contacts and bb messenger functions on their phones. Thats a shame. Now i gotta update, restore, waste time, blah :(

I've been running .554 on my 8900 for a couple of days, and so far it seems about the same as .509. I appreciate having the 'K' lock shortcut back, but other than that I see no improvements. I get the twitchy trackball issue in App Switcher from within the browser, but I only tried it after reading about it here. I normally never use App Switcher. After installing .554, the BB App World was gone, although it was still listed as installed in Options>Applications. I just re-downloaded it to get the icon back. Other than these minor issues, everything else seems to work okay.

I've been running this release fine for a couple of days as well. Not sure which forums you saw negative reports. There were a lot of posts on one of the other main forums where users prefer this release.
I did notice that they took out Sudoku from this release. Fortunately I still had an old copy of the release around and was able to load the Sudoku COD file using BBSAK.

Been running it for a couple of days.. no issues so far. Although I've been getting alerts about being low on memory.. but I'm going to see if this is just a one time thing since I didn't get this issue while running 509.

I'm running the 554 on the 8900 since it came out. Yesterday I noticed that when I'm browsing and the browser still loads the page while I try to change application (alt+esc) the sensitivity of the trackball goes bananas and I can't manage to navigate to another app. After page is loaded, all OK! Previously I was running the leaked .509 and I'm impressed with power consumption management in this OS version. It only froze once since Tuesday when I've updated, because yesterday I tried to open a page that wasn't supported, some google reader play link, bleah.
I used the shortcut alt + right shift + del to reboot the BB instead of battery pull. (You have to hold them all together for about 5-10 secs to reboot.) I was preparing to open the case to do the pull but I was surprised when it started to reboot, even though the BB was frozen.
Hope this helps in making your choice over this version of the OS.

9000 running smoothly on this release
It's my second full day on this release and so far all fundctions work well.
I did have problem once with application switching while using Browser but couldn't replicate it again.
One noticeable change vs. .454 is that font on the home screen is a tad larger an much more readable - I'm using a theme that lists recent mails and calendar entries.
Cannot say anything about power management as my use varies from day to day.

afternoon all, quick quesiton,
is it generally better to do a complete device wipe (bbsak) before installing the new OS??
previously i've just installed it as is but had the white background after battery pull, figured this may be due to not wiping the divice first??
so is it best to wipe prior to install of new OS??

I have never wiped my bold before installing a new os, though if you are having a problem after installation, you might want to wipe the device and then reinstall the os.

either way, your device *does* get mostly wiped.
BBSAK goes a few steps further (erasing a few more things) than *just* installing a new OS does, but they both wipe out the OS.
that is, unless the only thing that needs to be updated is some add on program or 3rd party component.
then the old modules are deleted and the newer ones are injected.

I find 554 the same as 509, no issues yet running it for 2 days now.
UMA quality is very good for me no degradation during calls. My only gripe is after listening to voice mail the phone vibrates and led flashes untill I open my meesage box then it settles down, anyone else have this issue?
