Question KEEP OUT "R" Rated

Please Login to Remove!

ok so i have a verizon curve and people like to play on it. well i have some "R" rated things on it (wink wink) that work associate and others can not see ... they are videos ... the videos are on my 4GIG Micro SD card...I am able to put a password on the phone as a general setting that when it comes out of standbye or off keygaurd it prompts for a password... this phone is freagn awesome....there has to be a way to HIDE or password protect my videos so when Curious George goes through my phone I dont have to worry about them finding my "R" rated material ... thoughts.... ideas ...

Options are:

Password Protect the device
Get better work associates
Don't store that on your phone

You can also "hide" a folder on the media card, without password protecting the entire device.

There is an issue with video. On many of the 4.5 releases the Video are still indexed and playable even when hidden.

Wirelessly posted (Curve)

Hide folder does nothing if they hook it up to Windows and have explorer set to 'view all files'.

If you work for a company that bought you your handset OR pays for your service, my best advice would be to:

1) Record Video
2) Copy to personal computer
3) DELETE OFF OF YOUR BLACKBERRY

With new laws on litigation, if your company is ever sued, its becoming increasingly common to subpoena BlackBerrys and other quasi-personal media items and index them for discovery. Once your company is subpoenaed, you'll probably be required to cough up the phone and the password to an independent third-party company (like mine) that will image the device and the media card.

Password protecting will get you so far but chances are the consequences of not coughing up the password won't be worth hiding your personal items. Also, there are all kinds of tools to crack media card encryption, sometimes successful, sometimes not.....

We've seen more than our share of "R-Rated" material on personal devices and corporate computers. It never makes it into the trial but offers our techs a pretty good laugh....

Whether or not you're a straight shooter, other peoples missteps could put you in an embarrassing position...

As long as the device is still on the BES, you don't even have to 'cough up' the password. The BES admin can remove it, reset it, or even change it without your assistance.

NOT having things like that on your phone is probably the best thing you could do.

You could also encrypt your media card with a password.

apps->options->media card->encryption mode->device or security password or security password & device

You could name the videos differently so as to make them seem less interesting:

Oct2006CountyFairYoYoCompetition
Jun2005FamilyReunion
Jan2007PlumbingConventionWalkthru

Why are coworkers getting a hold of your device (assuming its personal) anyway? And if it's not personal and is on the company BES then why are you storing this stuff on it?

Thats my rule too!

But I love how everyone is telling you what you should and shouldn't have on there! Some people download bible applications, some people have an Obama background (why I am not sure), and some people have porn! Too each their own... I say you can keep the first 2!
