I'm looking for recommendations on what bluetooth headsets work best with the blackberry 7130e. Most important is pairing ease, sound quality, and talk time. Also, thoughts on the headsets BT350v or Motorola H300?

I have the BT500 I like it better than my old BT250. Workd great, pairing is solid... But I don't use it in many loud environments so I can't judge its performance there.

I have the plantronics discovery 640 and LOVE IT. Its the smallest out there, never have any static, and it paired perfectly. Plantronics is by far the best bluetooth out there. I've used the 640 with my last few phones and it has been 100% reliable. You can find them at buy.com for about $75. A bit more expensive than some but better, I promise.

I've tried 3 with my 7130e so far. I'm not the type to wear it all day and I prefer to take calls on the handset when possible but want to have a headset that's easy to carry arround and pull out for use when driving or needing free hands without being a nuisance the rest of the time:

Moto H500- Pretty good for the price but wasn't great for pocket use. It kept dialing the last number in my pocket because the multifunction button was easily depressed. Volume was acceptable but could be louder. Great battery life. If you're going to wear it most of the time then this is a good choice.

Plantronics 640- Good but expensive. Very loud, very light. I did get static on mine pretty regularly, not sure why. The ear gel would get pretty funky in my pocket but it was very comfortable. The eargel seemed like it would be very easy to break off and the attachment point felt cheap. The holster wasn't tight enough to keep it from falling out but managed to cause deep scratched in the earpiece through normal use.
From a functionality standpoint it just didn't work out for me. It was small but you had to have the holster thing to be able to charge it. Also no mini USB charging without ordering the overpriced adapter for it. Battery life was decent but not nearly as good as the H500.

Moto H700- Best so far. For my purposes this worked out the best because when you flip the mic closed it turns off and unpairs, when you flip it open it pairs and even answers the incoming call if there is one. If it's turned off It takes about 1 ring to pair and answer an incomming call. There's almost no chance of it dialing a call in your pocket with this setup. The overall package is smaller than the 640 if you count the holster that you have to have to charge it. It's tiny compared to the HS850. It charges by Mini USB so most BB chargers will work with it; no need to pack an extra chager or adapter. Volume is about the same as the H500, acceptable but could be better. Yes you could turn any headset on and off as needed but it's so much easier with this model than those that are powered on and off by the multifunction button. Battery life is excelent. Comfort is somewhere between the 640 and the H500.


All three of these headsets were equally "echoee" to the caller on the other end when there was a lot of background noise (i.e. driving in my soft top Jeep at 70 MPH). Overall outgoing voice quality seemed about the same also. I'll be keeping the H700 because it suits my needs the best.

I got my free HS850 headset yesterday for my 7130e (the free headset they sent out when you purchased a new berry).

Charged it, paired it, tested it - worked fine. Turned it (headset) off without first turning off the bluetooth on the berry - caused the berry to crash and re-boot.

Never had that problem with my Bluetrek G2

I seem to remember others having problems with their bluetooth headset causing the berry to re-boot - well, here is another instance....

I've had the BT250v from Jabra and it works fine with my 7130e now, and I used it quite a bit with my old 7250 and never had any problems. Like Jeff above, I don't wear it all the time, as after about 3 hours of constant wear it begins to chafe my ear, but its rare that I need to have it on/in my ear that long.

I'll put it in a shirt pocket when I'm not actively using it, and I've had good clean reception with it overall. Pairing was a snap, and other than the 2nd charger you must use with it, its worked perfectly well for me. I also prefer its more solid feel on my ear than to some of the other "over ear" pieces rather than the "behind the ear" as this one is.

For my money, this is the one for me.

I have the Tekkeon ET3000 with oled display. The sound quality is better than any other one that I've used before. I've used Jabbra and Moto and the Bluetrek G2. While not as light as the G2, the sound quality and caller id display make up for the weight.

I use a Jabra BT 800. The caller ID works, but displays numbers only. The rest of the functions work fantastic with my 7130e. No problems with sound, and things like that. I like that it has it's own ringers and vibrates as I often have my BB in my backpack when I'm in NYC for meetings.

Logitech mobile pro, bulky but bombproof. I use my cell as an office phone so I wanted something that would be a comfy and adjustable with a boom mic.

I had the jabra 250 and it's mic was just too sensitive. Also it only lasted about 4 months. The plasic separated from the rubber part of the ear piece. I called the company they said there was no way to adjust the gain on the mic so they sent me some mic screens -- didn't help. I guess that was ok because it died a week later. Jabra said they would replace it but I had to have my receipt. I could not find it so i'm out like $95.00. The day after Thanksgiving Radio Shack had the Plantronics M2500 for $29.95 with a $20.00 rebate so I gave it a try. I love it. good sound, great reception, and light weight. I wear it almost all the time. I forget I am wearing it. It paired easy and great to my 7100t. I prefer an in the ear headset. The headsets that lay on the ear seem to fall off easy at least to me. This evening I was cooking on the grill and left my phone inside the house. 20 feet and a wall didn't effect the connection.

I have the 7130 and am testing the Motorola HS500 and it has worked fine. It rebooted the 7130 one time but after I changed a setting on the bb it hasn't done it since. I also used the HS500 with my E-815 and had complaint of echoing. I am now going to try out the HS850. I have read a mix of reviews on the net about it. it is amazing how some reviews can be on opposite ends of the spectrum. I will be rolling out 4 7130s in a month and want to be able to give my users a bluetooth headset. Hopefully the HS850 works as well as stated above. The HS500 is acceptable so far.
