Looking for report of differences that aren't just cosmetic. Does it come with an MP3 player maybe?

I got that once, went back 5 mins later and no problem.
Everyone should note that you may get a generic/black and white theme after installing. Just look for the swiss army knife icon to get options.

I honestly think you're the only one with the lag problem. I know several people (in the office, @ Cingular) with 8800's and they all are lag-free.

How do you like it? What's new? Something about SMS and emails in separate inboxes, that would be great. I just don't know if I want to change just for that. As I'm really happy with the OS on my fav 7130c now, and it's working great so I hate to mess with it.
Thanks.......

i have been waiting for this one so long... let's see what it does. installing now.
...
edit: the results:
RIM exceeded my expectations by upgrading the BlackBerry 8700 to a new level. Found these new functions:
- message colors
- you can configurate seperate SMS/Mailboxes
- bluetooth dialup networking (finally!)
- new bluetooth addressbook push option
- enable fast switching between "zen menu" and icons by clicking middle key (really cool this, like the BB pearl/8800). This also works in other themes like the included Dimenson-Today theme.
- easy setup wizard (including enterprise activation)
- new mediaplayer (like the one on BB8800)
- exclude addressbook from content protection option
- BB Maps now included
- it's not possible to add images to contacts (and probably see who's calling)
- soundrecorder to send audio messages (but not able to save them? weird)
- some new browser config settings
- MDS Control Center
- new firewall options (block SMS/MMS/PIN/BIS messages)
- GPS menu exists but it not useable because no GPS onboard 8700
- data services off while roaming option
and is this just me or did they make a little translation error? Look at the profiles menu and edit the normal profile. It list "telefoon" in dutch there although language is setup to english.

Does anyone know if it is possible with the new media player to download a full length song to the Blackberry and then save it and play it through the Media Player. This would have me keep the 8700 until I can upgrade through T-Mobile until the 83xx comes out. This would definitely be a great addition to the 8700.

Ah, but did he recover and with 4.2 or back to 4.1.xxx, that's the question.
Edit: Well here goes, install starting. I'll let you know if I have a brick too
Edit: So far so good, busy installing the OS now, should know in about 15 minutes or so, fingers crossed.
Edit: All is well, Options -> About shows V4.2.1.66 (Platform 2.3.0.59)
