BlackBerry Operating System Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ
In searching for v4.2.0.71 I found the following:

Cincinnati Bell Inc. (also Dobson Cellular [and Cellular One])
v4.2.0.88 (Multilanguage) - Applications: 4.2.0.71; Platform: 2.2.0.41

Is the "Applications" version what I need? It was the only 4.2.0.71 I was able to find. If not, what do you recommend I downgrade to? (I'm currently on OS 4.2.1.107 with T-Mobile.)

Thanks!!

Yes, applications version is what most of us here refer to. That was a pretty stable version. However, OS 4.5 is coming out pretty soon, so you might want to just wait and upgrade to that.

Incidentally, in the several hours since I turned the light back on, Bluetooth has been behaving itself and staying connected as it should *knock wood*. I think the light is obnoxious, but certainly less so than trying to answer a call with a disconnected headset.

I hate the light too, but leave it on for this reason.

Default Update?

I have a 8130 from Verizon. Bottomline have a Handsfree product from mObridge for a MOST equipped sound system in a Porsche. It uses Parrot as the device for bluetooth link in my SUV. Parrot software states compatible with BB88130. It is intermittent and static at all times. Sometimes it links up.. sometimes it doesn't. I can force it to link and it works for one call and then de-links for the next call. I can be talking on my phone due to non-connection and then it connects. I cannot find an earlier (8.2) version software for an 8130 and obviously am hopeful about 4.5. Currently on 4.3.0.60 with verizon. Verizon was of no help.. Any suggestions from anyone?

so... Mr. Moderator, as the other fella asked.. have a release date and will it work with Verizon?

p.s. +1 on Blue light obnoxious at night.

4.3.0.60 is a pretty early version of the 8130 OS. An upgrade is definitely in order. Try this one:

verizon 8703e - v4.2.1.110 (platform 2.3.0.24)

cant keep a connection to my bt headset ever since doing the os upgrade. any idea when the dolts at rim will actually acknowledge and fix this??? its funny, Microsoft puts out a new os and as soon as the smallest problem is found the entire world screams law suit, but this HUGE problem affecting millions goes on for this long without even a press release to make me feel like someone cares?

Default New Nuvi Bluetooth solved BB conx

Hello to all:

I was having the same problem as described on this thread. I kept on getting drop conx between TMobile 8100 and Nuvi 670 until I update the Nuvi Bluetooth to the latest version. That's seems to solve the issue.

My TMobile firmware is .107. You can find the latest bluetooth from Garmin using the Webupdater. Hope this helps.

Default Success Freedom + 8830 with upgrade RIM 4.2.2.196

HI THERE. I got my blackberry last month and after many houjrs of trying to get the internal gps to work gave up and took your advices and bougth the freedom gps for $65 bucks. Great, it worked out of the box on my verizon 8830. However once I turned it off, or got out of range it lost its gps though it still showed to be paired. I tried all of these suggestions on the threads. Finally, I decided to apply the lastest updgrade patch (4.2.2.196) which is 90.1 Mbs.

No problems, it upgraded the entire phone and now the freedom does not drop, and you can turn it off and back on and it will be detected and talking GPS almost immediately. I use AMAZE, Nav4, Google maps and blackberry tracker, all flawlessy. Thanks, and hope this helps someone.

Oh drat, the upgrade made things better but it still does not want to reconnect , and on occasion have to pull the battery. When the OS reboots and verifies the security settings, its good to go until I shut the puck or separate the phone from the puck for awhile. Sometimes it can find itself, but this is not right and look for a fix.

Well I think its figured out. After reading the about memory >10 mb, (Sorry I can't provide a link as this is my third post?). I began seeing when the bluetooth running the GPS quit talking. Problems occured when approaching 10-11 mb thats when the problems connecting occured, only fixed by a battery pull. Like any newbie I had a load of third party programs eating away my memory, and while on the road I would be testing and running 3 or more GPS programs. Taking the battery out was a sure fix for awhile. I think I found equilibium and can operate the freedom GPS without the pain of firguing out how to start it. Closing the programs, and keeping ample free memory appears to solve my problem. Wil lcontinue t omonitor that memory status feature, and remember to close out all the programs regularly. Maybe someday they will have a better 4.2 patch that wil lresolve these issues.

There is no such thing as 4.1 for the Pearl. Update to OS 4.5 to fix the bluetooth problems.

Unhappy Problems syncing with Desktop Manager

I've been having lots of problems connecting my phone with the Desktop Manager. I have the BlackBerry 8320 (T-Mobile), v 4.2.2.180, and am using Desktop Manager 4.3.0.17 on my laptop (Vista).

Initial BT connection takes about 12 seconds (for the DM to ask if I want to connect by BT). After I click "Yes", it takes another 3 seconds to 1+ minute (huge range, and that's if it even connects) for the phone to actually show up as connected in the lower left corner of the DM (but the DM knows the phone is there, because using the "detect" option always sees the phone). The phone, meanwhile, gives the connected BT symbol on the screen.

If I'm lucky, I can sync my phone. Often, it'll disconnect and I'll have to turn off the BT radio, close the DM on my laptop, and try it all over again. I've found that turning off the Wi-fi & mobile connection seems to help, but not always. Very inconsistent.

And even if I am successful syncing my phone, I've been consistently having problems backing up my phone via BT. For whatever reason, the connection drops (DM says there is nothing connected, though the phone continues to show the BT connected icon). It doesn't matter if I just did a successful sync or if backing up is the first thing I try.

It's very frustrating.

Oh, and I've had no problems using BT with my handsfree so far (Motorola speakerphone that you clip on to the visor). It's just a problem connecting to my laptop. No GPS on my phone, so no issues with that.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be glad to hear it. I had no problems at all with my Pearl (using 4.2.0.64 on the handheld; 4.2.1.107 was buggy on my Pearl) and DM v. 4.2.2.14. It's just the Curve and this newer software, it seems.

Welcome to the forums.

Now would be a good time to update to OS 4.5. Good stable version released here:
