Default After doing a wipe question

Hi to all, here is my question. I am a PDA Admin at my company and we have aquired a company who's users we are taking over. Some of them have their own BB's. We will need to do a wipe on each device by sending them instructions on how to do it, then I will request a pin and set them up on our BES. My question, after the wipe, do I have to also install the code or is it done once a pin is set and it goes through the setup. This is the first group going to BB's in our company with a new BES.

What Code are you talking about?

You simply wipe the device, add them to BES and set an activation password. Give the user that password, then they can activate their device. You don't need to know any codes or PIN numbers...

And you don't even (necessarily) need to wipe the device.

That depends on if they were on a BES or not. If the BB's have a policy on them and they are on a different BES that is not in your BESMgmt database then they should be wiped. BES 4.0 and up has a hash key used to check the policy and if they don't match the Enterprise Activation will crap out on the Waiting for policy stage.

But you are right, if they are personal devices and were never on a BES they don't need to be wiped.

Thanks guys, Yes some of the users were on another BES. On those that were not, I will just request a pin and go from there. Thanks for everyone's input. I really enjoy this forum, the best out there.

Why do you need the PINs? Are you currently using Enterprise Service Policy on your BES?
